lulu :( |

having bought as21c some time ago i thought i would buy another thomas henry book as i enjoyed it a lot.
i decided to get the 3080 book as i have been dabbling with ota's this week.
i bought the book from lulu and it all went well.
HOWEVER......
they use an adobe third party program and have removed the option to print this book...
i really hate reading books off a screen and was so dissappointed to find that this was the case with this book.
is this lulu's decision or someone elses?
thanks _________________ _Richard_ |

i don't know whom's decision, however, i am fine with reading thomas' books on screen. it is tech stuff, and i don't read it i bed before sleeping ;-P
in fact, having it open on one screen and running a simulation software on the 2nd is quite comfortable. sometimes i print something out for the workbench.
for novels i only buy hardcover, though...
so maybe you can just make-up your mind? the thomas henry stuff is too precious to pass it because of a missing hardcopy. _________________

Hi guys,
Just so you know, it has nothing to do with me. I only hear from Tim Servo ever third year or so, so I have no idea if it's something he's up to. I actually have no idea of anything he's up to.
I don't like it, though. I am a "solid book in the hand" guy, so I can carry on glossing unabated. I probably have around a hundred books in my electronics bookshelf and there's more of my scribbling in each of them than the original book has in type.
My students think that's weird. But I'm convinced that writing (even something you already know) is the best way to learn. Books are meant to be used and used up as far as I'm concerned.

So you're saying that it won't let you print pages, or are you saying they don't sell a hard copy themselves?
It sounds weird because on my mac, I can print pages or the whole thing as I wish, for all the TH books I've bought from lulu. I usually print pages to redline them as I'm building a circuit. |

| Which is why it's so bizarre that they'd try to sell these without letting you print your own pages.... |

| I bought a couple of his books through Lulu (granted this was a couple of years ago,) but I was able to print them just fine. So unless something changed, I'm not sure what's happening. Have you tried opening them on a different device or using a different compatible reader? |

na, the file has DRM. its about 1.16kbytes, adobe digital editions downloads the book into itself, the book has a "no print" tag on it.
guess ill just grin and bear it _________________ _Richard_ |

mystery solved!
they sell multiple formats. the one i bought cannot be printed as a result its cheaper,
just a heads up to anyone in the same position.
make sure you are buying the PDF file not the "adobe digital editions only"
if you want to print.
if you only wanna read on screen you can save quite a bit of money buying the digital only copy. _________________ _Richard_ |
