Midi from Micro to Logic problem |
 |
|
HI there,
I just got a micro modular and am trying to get midi data from the knobs on the nord to record into Logic 7.2 on a macbook pro 2.2ghz with 4gig ram. Logic refuses to see any incoming midi data. I have been using the 1/1 interface built into my N.I.Kore, it will send midi to the Nord but not from, I then tried a separate USB midi interface and still no incoming data. When I turn the knobs on there is no midi blip on the display to show data being sent like there is when it receives midi but when i press the patch change buttons a little blip shows up on the display so maybe it is sending patch change messages? Either way Logic still shows no incoming midi data when I press patch change on the Nord I have tried swapping the midi cables over to check they are not faulty. I also have an edirol PCR-1 midi keyboard which registers midi data sent into Logic when I press a key so Logic is definitely receiving midi data.
Anyone think this is a problem with the micro setup?
Note added (now the problem lies further along than this bit please scoll down and see ny next issue for solving!! Thanks)
Cheers

The knobs don't send MIDI automatically, you'll have to assign a CC to them. The way to do that is to assign a physical knob to a virtual knob first (right click on a knob in a patch then select knob assign from the popup menu). Next you'll have to assign a MIDI CC to the virtual knob as well, right click again for the context menu. Then when you turn the knob (or push the button) it will send MIDI out. _________________ Jan

Thanks for the welcome and the advice!
Also I now have the Kore running the midi to the Nord via Logic and the seperate USB midi interface connected for the editor, Whe the separate interface is connected to the PC out port on the Nord it is showing midi activity all the time and the midi in on logic is showing midi in data all the time on 1 51 80 on the transport bar? If I record the midi track data gets recorded but I cannot find it anywhere in the midi hyperdraw in logic, its liike there is data there but it does not correspond to and cc message on logic (if that makes sense) If I unplug the midi cable from the PC out port then the signal stops. What do you reckon ? |
