I currently need to get a cheap MIDI control and have found 2 within my price range of $100 or less.

M-Audio
or
CME

I have heard some bad things about M-Audio itself, but none about the keyboard. I also cannot find any trusted reviews on it.

HI and welcome to the forum Very Happy

I own an M-Audio "Oxygen-8" for years and it works quite well, I would guess that the M-Audio controller you chose would work just as well. I really kick this thing around also.

I own one of the CME keyboards from the UF series and it gave me trouble from the start and had an intermittent keyboard. The service people told me that I had to put it on a flat surface so the unit would not flex. He said flexing the keyboard would make it go intermittent. With that, I will never purchase a CME again. I blew $500.00 on the keyboard and can't trust it LIVE. I use it in the studio instead. Maybe the CME folks have gotten their act together as this was an early model. It is a RED metal case that weighs a ton ...... Shocked

I would go with the M-Audio unless someone else has very good things to say about the CME keyboard ........ Wink

Also consider the: Behringer UMX49 49-Key MIDI Controller
http://www.zzounds.com/item--BEHUMX49

For $129.00, you also get more control functions than the M-Audio ...............

Hope to see you around !!!!!

Bill

hmmm....

I posted this on djforums.com and was told it was the other way around; CME > M-Audio. I guess its just preference.

Well I am going to GuitarCenter tommorrow and will pick which ever one feels less flimsy.

Anyone else have any light to shed??

thanks

Yes, that will happen many times over. Gear is a very personal thing ..... I just go by my personal experiences. As I said though, CME keyboards may be very good now as I purchased mine when they first started appearing on the market.

Could not have put it better myself Wink Play a bunch and then decide for yourself.

Good luck and let us know what you end up with ............
