Announcements Subject description: General JH info, not related to any specific pcb project |
 |
|
Hi,
just in case anybody was wondering why I didn't reply to any postings or mails recently: I've been on holidays for a week, and found my computer broken when I came home. I hope it's just the power supply, and I'll get a new one on Monday. I hope.
See you then

Btw. Jürgen. Maybe you could use this thread or another special one for pcb announcements (when they are ready for ordering). Sometimes (especially after holidays) im loosing track of your activity |

Good point. A sticky per project at the top of the forum would be nice. |

Attention
I have severe computer problems again.
I burned the second expensive fan-less computer PSU within a few weeks, apparently because of a sporatic fault on the main board and the PSU not being short circuit protected.
I have now bought a cheap standard PSU and (obviously) managed to get the computer running - only for how long, no one knows.
I'll buy a new PC soon, I guess.
Anyway - if anybody is waiting for email reply, or, more important, for shipping of paid PCBs, please don't get angry. There may be some unexpected delays. It's just a few out of many, but you may be one of the few.
Thanks for understanding.
The good news is: I'll use the time when the computer is down for soldering. Still have the 2nd Frequency Shifter prototype to do before I can send out all the FS-1a PCBs.
And I'll build the second half of the String Filter.
The first half (20 bands out of 40), already sounds awesome (to me), even better than the one I've built a few years ago. You will love this, I'm sure!

I got a notification from paypal. At first I thought it was the usual spam, but it wasn't. Seems they need some more documents before they let me receive any more money. Spent two hours uploading the stuff, no they'll have to evaluate my documents
To make a long story short: If you try to send me money and get an error message, just try again in a few days.

Have you seen those little Asus Eee PC's? They cost under £200, could be quite useful because they are very small (A5 Laptop size). _________________ ACHTUNG!

That's a very interesting direction the PC manufacturers are going.
Thanks for pointing me to this; I'll keep an ey on it.

On account of the popularity of Jürgen Haible:s designs, it´s about time to make a board-printed T-shirt! |

Finally: Combined Orders |
 |
|
Hi,
In the past I’ve rejected requests for “combined orders” (i.e. mixed orders for PCBs from different projects in one package), because my (admittedly clumsy) method of handling, from your order to payment and to shipping, is totally focused on pre-orders and I simply wasn’t prepared for this. Stupid, I know.
But with the number of my projects steadily increasing, it became clear that I had to find a good solution for selling “leftovers” (overproduction that has not been covered by pre-orders).
So here’s the deal:
If you want to buy a mix of *past* projects’ PCBs, please send me (you guessed it!) an order form as described below.
“Past projects” means that you can’t combine orders for leftovers from previous projects with pre-orders for the current project. In other words, when you send a mixed order, it’s important that I have all the PCBs here and ready for shipping.
(It is my policy not to take any money before I actually have boards ready for shipping.)
Pre-ordering means you’ll help a PCB project to be realized in the first place, you’re order is put into a queue to be shipped as fast as possible after production, and it’s your guarantee that you will get your pre-ordered boards in the end.
Combined orders are for what is left from previous projects, as long as stock lasts.
About shipping costs: Most requests for combined orders have been made (naturally) in order to keep shipping costs down. And that’s why I’m now starting to offer combined orders, too.
BTW: My “shipping & handling” (S&H) costs are *not* actual shipping costs, but they are a result of hybrid costing. As a rule of thumb, overseas customers are normally paying less S&H than my actual costs, and European customers are paying more. IMO that’s just ok – with the current Dollar / Euro exchange rate, it’s my contribution to do a little bit of compensation . But the real reason for having fixed S&H prices is that I tried actual shipping charges with the first project, and I almost went crazy with the variety, depending on weight, size and destination. (Dammit Jim! I’m an engineer, not a post office! )
So, it’s just two fixed amounts of S&H:
EUR 4.00 for a package with a single PCB, wherever you live in the world
EUR 8.00 for a package with two or more PCBs, wherever you live in the world
Combined PCB order form
====================
(1) Email Subject line (This is *absolutely necessary*!)
Write a subject line that summarizes what you’re ordering, in the following form:
PCB order [list of what you order]
Example email subject line:
==================
PCB order 2 Tau / 3 Krautrock / 1 String Filter
(2) Email Message
I’m ordering the following PCBs:
[list what PCBs you want, and the quantity]
for EUR 27.00 per PCB plus EUR 8.00 Shipping and Handling per order
(Some projects consist of more than one PCB. Quantities of my order are for number of *sets*, pricing is EUR 27.00 per PCB, i.e. EUR 54.00 for a project with 2 PCBs.)
Total amount: EUR [fill in total amount]
I’m aware that in buying PCBs I’m only buying pieces of FR4 with copper traces, no kits, no “projects”, no guarantee to successfully building anything. I confirm that I’m skilled in the art of electronics, or have devices that are using these PCBs built by somebody skilled in the art of electronics. I will not hold the seller of these PCBs responsible for any damage or failure that will occur from such devices – I’m doing this all on my own risk. By ordering PCBs, I expressly agree to these terms.

Thank you so much for pointing me in this direction.
These things are so *cute* !!
Are they quiet, too?
I've started a new thread here, to keep discussions out of the "Announcement" thread:

Closing my PCB shop for a month |
 |
|
I'm going to drink the waters soon, which means there will be no shipping of PCBs for about 4 weeks.
All PCBs that I have received money for by now, will be shipped tomorrow.
All payments I will receive, starting from now, will trigger shipping of your PCBs by the end of September.
