Which 1/8” (3.5mm) PCB-mount Panel Sockets? Subject description: Trying to find better |
 |
|
I've been using Kobicon panel-mount sockets (#16PJ012), but would like to move to something that meets my needs better. I am trying to get:
Panel and PCB mount (like Doepfer and MOTM Frac use that work as structural support)
At least one NC contact (the Kobicon has 1, 2 would be even better)
If I can't meet all those requirements, does anyone know where to get the MOTM Frac sockets? _________________ Software and Hardware Design |

Kobiconn does have part number 161-3508-E that looks promising. Has anyone tried them?
161-3508-E is two switches, 161-3509-E is one. _________________ Software and Hardware Design |

The sockets used on Doepfer gear are Cliff CL13841.
There is a cheaper model, the 1384, but the 13841 has a special rear connector, so that it can take far eastern 3.5mm jacks as well as regular ones, which are a slightly different shape.
Don't know what the availability situation is like in the states, but you can buy direct from Cliff UK. The minimum order is 1000 though, or 200 for the 1384s .... (!!!)
cheers,

Switchcraft 142Ax jacks are really great. Mouser has them at reasonable price for 100 quanity and I've had Digikey match that price.
One word of warning is that if you are using the internal switch to provide normalized connections (ARP 2600 style) that the 3.5mm cables from Blacet and others (expensive useless purchase it turned out for me) will not work properly with the switch as Switchcraft specs are actually 1/8 inch which is something like 3.58mm. I learned this the hard way.

the others are
AX 41 without switch
AX 42A with switch
Switchcraft is by far the best. i built with most of the Jacks you would consider to build with.
Kobiconn 16PJ135 are alse ok, but MUCH cheaper. ---> good for cramped spacings |

Thank you for the responses! It is really helpful to get some part numbers.
The Cliff 13841 seems very difficult to get here in the US. How common are far Eastern jacks? _________________ Software and Hardware Design |
