Trying to find a G2 ENGINE |
 |
|
I know, I know, why didn't I buy one sooner? Anyway, I'm trying to locate & purchase a G2 Engine. Unexpanded is fine. If anyone knows of any stores or online dealers that still have one, please let me know. Any help is greatly appreciated. (And if you have one and want to sell it, please contact me!)
BTW I'm located in northern California, near San Francisco.
Thanks,

I recently looked in the UK and could not find any in stock anywhere.
Thomann in Germany had some but don't seem to list them any more. |

Thanks you guys! I've done several web searches but 8Th Street & Florida never came up. I'll give them a call pronto.
If that doesn't work, I certainly would consider one from 'across the pond' if anyone is interested in selling. Wish me luck!
Thanks,

..... oh yeah... I've checked the manual for information about how you work with multiple G2s and I think I found it on page 88. It says you have to select SYNTH in the toolbar, then SYNTH SETTINGS, and then manually type in the name of the synth you are currently working on.
Is this correct? There's no easier way to switch the editor back & forth between two G2s? Hmm.. I guess I should rename them something short like "1" and "2"... Anybody here have experience working with multiple G2s on one PC? Any tips? _________________ Dave Peck |

Switching synths is the same as with the NM Classic, the row [ABCD + synth name + perf] gets repeated for each additional synth connected .. up to four we were promised, but two works OK for sure .. anyway, click in the 2nd set of controls to control the 2nd synth etc.. The synths can be given different names for easier recognition. The manual may have old info, when the G2 first came out one could only connect one synth, this was changed later ... after complaints about it.
http://www.the-music-house.com/merkenal/clavia/nordmodularengine.php still lists the engine. _________________ Jan

...just confirmed that it has shipped to me today!
I plan to use this Engine mostly as a dedicated effects processor. I'll be using a Lexicon PCM70 and a TC Reverb4000 for all the reverb effects, and I plan to use the Engine for just about every other kind of effect. Of course the usual stuff like chorus, delay, phasers, vocoding, etc, plus lots of cool new things that the G2 Engine will be perfect for.
So regarding the question of multiple G2s connected to a PC, has anyone here had experience with this? Any advice? Thanks! _________________ Dave Peck |

Just plug it in and go, it works ok with multiple G2s, just like with the Classic. _________________ Jan

..... Now THIS really sucks. I just got an email from 8th Street saying oops, we're sorry, we didn't really have one and we are cancelling your order. Even though we called you yesterday and said we were shipping it.
BAH! This is very disappointing. So I've just called Armadillo to see if they have any clues about where I might find one. Wish me luck. _________________ Dave Peck |

Way OT:
I would like to use my G2 as a processor more but the "USB noise" (i know boring!) issue makes it less desirable. One solution would be one of those galvanic isolators where the USB signal is converted to optical but they cost a fortune!
Back OT:
I hope you find one Dave. Glad I got mine when I did they have gone up in price quite a bit in the UK since. _________________ iP (Ross)

When the USB connection is active, e.g. connected and software is running, I get an increase in system noise being picked up on the line ins and line outs of the Nord.. It is less of a problem with synth sounds from the G2 as your only getting one lot of noise but it is worse when you have a signal going in and out as you now have two lots of interefence. There were quite a few threads on this ages ago..
I wonder if maybe a powered usb hub might help.
Nord g2 Engines:

Don't know how many of those actually have stock though. _________________ iP (Ross)

I have never noticed the usb noise I must admit.
I have googled and emailed all UK stockists I found, none have them in stock.
I should have got one a few months agao, my own fault entirely. |

Looking at the web sites of a couple of local dealers I find no Nord Modulars at all (at least two of these used to sell NMs). The existing machines won't go away, but I feel like an epoch is ending - if there at least was some similar product elsewhere.

the only way I'd get rid of my engine, was if it were to be replaced with a keyboard. |

the new Italian Clavia distributor (starting this coming October) does not list any Nord Modular on their catalog (except the expansion board). _________________ homepage - blog - forum - youtube
