patches disappear |
 |
|
Hi all. It's been a while since I came here...
I bought myself a brand new second hand NL2. Now I've got some patches that I wanted to move from my Rack 2 (which I am going to sell) and put them on the Lead. So I placed them on my PCMIA cad (the patches counting from 1.01) and placed the card into the Lead.... finding the patches empty!.
Back to the Rack... and there I found the sounds, right where I left them...
Seems strange, and the only thing I can think of is that it would have to do with the fact that the Rack has software version 1.06, and the lead is in 1.03.
If so, is there anything I can do here? If not, what is going on?
regards.

I don't know about the other way around, but that's what not interresting to you at the moment. | Quote: | | If so, is there anything I can do here? Using Midi and a soft sequencer is the most easiest way to do the job. You can also use System Exclusive files, SysEx or *.syx.
If needed contact me by PM and try it in Dutch (or Flamish
IMPORTANT!
In Canada there is a guy named Phiol, http://electro-music.com/forum/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=18525 who is desparate in finding a NordLead2! Well, you could PM him...?

Just a another note, I think if you still need to have patches stored on a PCMCIA card, I think you can re-format the card for your new Lead keyboard. So, you may back up your patches to computer, format the PCMCIA card in the new lead, then transfer the patches from the computer to your Lead keyboard/PCMCIA card.
I haven't done this before, but I think it is possible. _________________ Good good study, day day up! |

thanks.
This OS is on some kind of chip if I understand correctly.
Would it be possible to switch the chips in the lead and the rack, so the lead has OS 1.06?
And is this something I can do myself?

Hi Wout,
Is there a special reason not to do this, or just a general word of caution?
While we're on the topic, it would be interesting to soudn out Clavia on whether they may make the bin or hex files available to end users, or even if they may allow end users to make these chips available for each other.
I have burned OS EPROMs for some other gear before, and also don't mind doing this for other people for the cost of chips + postage. It's not really difficult, if one knows how.
Actually, I was in the process of writing up a web page for doing this for a JoMoX XBase09, which I did for a friend of mine, but I had to return the unit before I got around to the photo documentation.
I think this does start to get into issues with distribution of intellectual property if providing chips to other people though. In the case of the XBase09, JoMoX first provided me with the files, and discussed the publication of the web page with me as well. Waldorf also provides bin files for some old OS EPROMs.
I think the idea shouldn't be too problematic, as most companies will provide the files for upgrade of Flash based memory. Of course, it's never quite that simple. _________________ Good good study, day day up! |

Clavia doesn't produce the PCMIA cards themself anymore, but redirects to this company in germany, so why wouldn't they do it for the EPROM chips?
by the way : this info@clavia.se doesn't seem to be working anymore
