http://www.musicfromouterspace.com/analogsynth/SOUNDLABMINISYNTH_PLUS/SOUNDLABMINISYNTH_PLUS.php
is it the list below the small list ? i dont need to buy the first small list ?
i'm asking just to make sure.
2 - i want to make my sound lab plus with 2 envelopes, 1 for the VCA and the second for the VCF.
but i want the whole ADSR deal not just the AR, is it possible ? if it is, do i need to order this pcb ? http://www.musicfromouterspace.com/analogsynth/ADSR001/ADSR001.html
BTW i want it on the same panel with the sound lab, not as independent.
3 - the LFO, i want 2 LFO's and in the same panel not as independent.
do i need to order this pcb ?
http://www.musicfromouterspace.com/analogsynth/VCLFO200607/VCLFO200607.php
4 - i want to make my sound lab plus with keyboards, i have this old midi 2 octave keyboards http://la.m-audio.com/images/en/callouts/big/oxygen8v2Callout.jpg

i want it with pitch and moduletion wheels if it possible.
5 - the wall wart, what cind of wall wart i need for my sound lab plus?
to make the loooooong story short.

Hi Isak, that is my soundlab with the keyboard; I have more information about it on my website ( http://woosteraudio.com ).
1. The bottom list is the complete parts list for the soundlab except for the S&H parts. You need to follow the link to the S&H parts and order those too.
The top list is if you wanted to get most of the parts from the regular soundlab parts kit, and then add some parts to make it a soundlab plus.
2. You can have as many PCB's behind one panel as you want. However the more PCB's you have the more complicated the wiring will become, and you may run out of space. The Soundlab Plus is already two PCB's: one for the Soundlab and one for the S&H. If you add a third PCB for ADSR, and a fourth for LFO, and a fifth for the Keyboard, this will be a very complicated project.
3. See #2
4. There two options for adding keyboard.
- Use a pre-existing keyboard as-is with a midi-cv converter.
- Use a bare keyboard with custom matrix-scanning electronics to generate a CV. This is what I did, but it is a very difficult project. You might be able to extract the bare keyboard out of the Oxygen, but you wont know the schematic of the keyboard. That is why I got my keyboard from the Doepfer spare parts page.
5. Ray has a list of wall warts on his page:
http://www.musicfromouterspace.com/analogsynth/WALLWARTSUPPLY/WALLWARTSUPPLY.php
Order one of those, or find one with the same specs. _________________ Check out woosteraudio.com Last edited by wooster on Tue Dec 15, 2009 9:12 am; edited 1 time in total |

One more thing: try to break your project into different stages. When I built my Soundlab, I built just the Soundlab by itself without the keyboard. I put that into a simple plywood box and had fun playing with that for several months. Then I started designing the keyboard part. _________________ Check out woosteraudio.com |

Isak,
I get the impression that this may be your first synth DIY project? It might even be a good idea to start with a simpler project like the Weird Sound Generator, just to warm up. In any event, Wooster's comment (start with the basic soundLab, and then customize it with added ADSRs/LFOs/keyboard etc.) is great advice.
I'd go even further, since you're already planning on skipping/replacing several of the the SL modules... and consider starting straight off with a modular synth, and build one module at a time. Nothing against the SL, but the individual circuits are all simplified versions of ray's stand-alone oscillators, ADSRs, filters, LFOs, VCAs... these modular versions are each better than what's in the SL. building one at a time greatly simplifies troubleshooting, and you can pick and choose the exact configuration you need.

wooster.
thats what was afraid from, all the wiring stuff, i need some one who can guide me.
bbob.
yes you are right its my first project, but i have this genius friend and he will help me building the sound lab plus.
i thought about building individuals circuits and i cant agree more about troubleshooting individuals its easyer but i have this vision in my head of sound lab plus that looks like the legendary minimoog
and after i see what wooster have done with his SL i went crazy, his SL looks like Aphrodite
on second thought i can some how make individuals that looks like the minimoog..mmm..
if i'm gonna work like that i will need lots..looots of cables, i dont like it so much.
i think i'll start with what wooster as recommend.
first i'll make the sound lab plus and then moding is ass off |
