Hi,

Here is my relatively basic, but incredibly frustrating problem:

I have a Nord Electro 2 that I would like to use at my MIDI controller with Pro Tools. It has MIDI cables going from the Nord to my Mbox2 interface that I'm using with my iMac. The midi-in cable from the Nord is going to the midi-out slot in the interface and vice versa.

BUT

My computer refuses to recognize the Nord as a MIDI controller. As far as I can tell, my computer doesn't even know it's there. I've tried reinstalling the drivers, but when I get to the point where the program asks me which MIDI slots to assign Nord to, it doesn't recognize any.

The most frustrating thing about this all is that I have successfully used the Nord as a MIDI controller on the same computer with the same interface before - for months! But I recently moved and when I set everything back up again, it simply did not work.

Can anyone help a guy out?

Thanks.

Any chance the Midi channel of the Electro has changed?

Wout

When plugged into another synth does it control that one?
If so it is a ProTools thing and the answer maybe could be found at http://www.protoolsforum.com/board/viewforum.php?f=1&sid=aba800448f0d6138bbccd05fee0ce4fd
If you ask the question first Smile

I don't have another synth to plug into to try that, so....

I do have another MIDI controller that works fine with ProTools and Reason (I want to sell that, which is why I'm trying to get my Nord to act as the MIDI controller)

Since the other MIDI controller works, I'm figuring this is more of a Nord issue and not ProTools.... It used to be that I would just plug in the Nord to my interface and all was fine.

Or there is something wrong with the cables or the Midi connector is broken.

Anyway, you could check the Local on/off function [Shift+Program3=Local] and using up/down.
It could be ProTools and Reason detect MidiLoops and shut the port down.

If nothing works consult your local repair shop...
