Interesting stuff Carlo.

I did want to rehear the 'music' used to intimidate the 'hostages' in the Waco seige. This 'music' sounded line electroacoustic drones with the sounds of chickens have their neck's broken (or Chicken's being harassed by ferrets!). All very disturbing, but oddly interesting! Shocked Wink Laughing

Did I want to know all that ... Confused it's sad, and even sadder to see discussions about the subject going into the direction of finding even better methods for torture.

I don't think anyone is condoning torture here Jan. It's important to distance what is simply sound and what is a method of control- the latter being which essentially what torture is.

Except for some of course .. but indeed not likely here ... but just to make sure ... I was not pointing at you Tom ... it was a general observation ... from Carlo's link, and also I brought up the subject in the chat yesterday ... maybe just uncertainty mostly about how to deal with the subject ... which I don't really know either.

I posted the link because it seemed absolutely outrageous and wanted people to realize that.
It's hard to deal with something like that.

Best I can do,my arms aren't long enough to reach Europe. Wink

I didn't have time to read the article because I'm packing to go out of town, but I can share this:

When I was a teenager I had recurring nightmares for a while. It was being tortured by sound and light. There were no people in the dreams, just bright light and a noise that can only be described as Lou Reed's Metal Machine Music on steroids. One night I had it 3 times in a row and didn't sleep the rest of the night being terrified to.Thank goodness whatever teen angst caused that went away!

In terms of the sonic torture,I feel ya Jan.Man's inhumanity to man.But it IS important to note that these techniques are USUALLY employed to make someone surrender without having to storm the dwelling killing everyone.
(Obviously this didn't work in Waco, and the government's error in targeting those people in the first place is another discussion entirely)

Interesting topic/article.

While i of course dont condone torture or weapons, i gotta say, i'd MUCH rather be shot with the beam of infrasound than anything else, like the bean bag guns (from what i can imagine).

Back in the 90's i was a bit of a punk brat, and must admit i've used sound to irritate people. A roommate came up with sequencing a single low freq (15hz?) to turn on for 15 min, off for 5, repeat. You couldnt hear it in our room, but everwhere around the block the hum was present. We let this go on for under 3 days. Noone thought it was us, they thought it was a machine on a construction site or something, but folks were definitely irritated! We thought of it more as a prank, but looking back, we were just being jerks. Embarassed
