Subject description: Andy Hangs on Boot

Hi All,

I've had the same Andy for 10 years now without any real issues. Yesterday, my Andy locked up. Usually, I can do a soft reset and the problems go away, sometimes it takes a hard reset to come back, but she always came back.

Now, it is stuck on the startup screen. The weird thing is I can do soft reset (4) and get the message to init, but then hangs. For hard reset (3), it asks to hit Store (which works), then the confirmation comes up and clicking Store again does nothing and it sits on the confirmation.

I though maybe the OS is corrupted or possibly the bootloader, but when I boot with (7), I can click through the first message and, again, the Store key does not work the second time to allow receiving.

Also, I ran diags, and everything (even the Store button), seems to be in good order.

Even the boot sK8 looked like it was working, but now won't even come up.

I've read through many of the threads here, and tried everything. I even took her apart to look for loose connections.

Any other ideas or tricks? Is there any way to reload OS without the SK7 bootup working? Could it be the main board went bad? Am I screwed? Does anyone repair these anymore? So bummed.

Thanks for any replies. Crying or Very sad

I got my replacement chip from eBay. This should be the solution for if it does boot when turning it on-off-on quickly.
