Hi all,
I have been trying to find a reliable source for the cmos CD4062a: a 200-stage dynamic shift register, but unsuccessfully so far. As far as I can tell the 4062 is like the CD4031, but with 200 stages rather than 64. I would love to get my hands on some. Who has first hand experience or even better; a source?

Here is the datasheet: https://datasheetspdf.com/datasheet-pdf/1100452/CD4062A.html

Thanks! But I already tried them (familiar as I am with google believe it or not) but they have ‘t responded to my inquiry yet. I also found another supplier who charges $16 per chip whilst having no pinout or datasheet available to ensure we are talking about the same IC.

The wait/search continues.

The CD4517BE might be good substitute.

If you are patient, I can look at home in my collection.
Recently I got a lot of different ic’s from a befriended engineer, but it will take at least till juli 2024 before I can check it out.
The bottom side of this picture are all cmos ic’s.
(Strangely enough if you click on the picture it’s the left side of the picture )

Is there a specific application that uses that or it is just academic curiosity.

Usually Large shift registers are used for LFSRs and such...although I dont think I see any taps.

Other wise Digital delays? data serialization? Im curious.

Ripple counters can be squirrely too, but for audio...eh.

One application is to sample a square wave...overclocked at that 200x and then put some vibrato on that clock for a phasing effect?

If your interested in the "concept" of a large shift register, but willing to try something that is not exactly a CMOS chip.

I have some similar things on https://github.com/robstave/ArduinoComponentSketches that use ATTINY85

My "lunettas" include small, single function ATTINYs. Im not trying build synths on a chip, rather, I enjoy having a dozen chips on a breadboard all interacting and weird ways. Its just sometimes easier to program the silicon up from time to time...or make one up.

https://github.com/robstave/ArduinoComponentSketches/tree/master/ACS-85%20ATTiny85%20sketches/ACS-85-0510

here is a very simple 16 bit shift resister...you can code up to what you like
there is a clock in, a shift in and 3 taps ( configurable)

Here is a 32 bit. you can use a pot to select the tap dynamically

And 128 bit!

128 bits oughta scratch that itch. But, you can program more. Note that ATTINY is pretty much 8 hz. It will do audio stuff ok to a point.
