I don't actually regret selling anything, because I always did it to buy something better, but I wish I could have kept some of these:
- Juno 106 - had one bad voice, though.
- Korg X5D - my first synth.
- Moog Prodigy - it was missing the first key, but sounded huge.
- JP8000 - Nice sound and great interface.
- Yamaha VL70m - great sounds. You don't see these very often.
- Yamaha FS1R - one of the most beautiful sounding modules out there.
- Nord Micromodular - fun little unit.
- ESQ-1 - great pad source.
- Korg MS2000R - my first VA.
- Oberheim Matrix 6R - flexible and good sounding, but annoying to program
- Emu MP7 - Great workstation. I wish I had dedicated more time to it.
- Akai S2800 - Cheap but punchy. Used to use it as a VA when I didn't have one.
- Korg ER-1 - I love this thing and will probably buy one again. _________________ My music: http://cdbaby.com/all/fac |

Juno-60. Miss that noisy lady something awful. Nothing quite sounds like it--right down to the key scanner clock noise in the output mine had. |

I sold a Oberheim SEM in the mid to late 1970s.
I sold a four-panel Serge for next to nothing in the early 1980s. _________________ Chris Muir

Don't really regret selling anything that much, but of those I've sold the one I'd be most likely to buy again is the Korg Mono/Poly, because it's a great synth. I only sold it when I got my Voyager and no longer had room for it. _________________ Jez

I recently traded in a PolySix and a Matrix 1000 for a Radias. I almost threw my MonoPoly in the deal as well. The store manager slapped some sense into me. The other two I don't miss as much, but as he was checking out the MP, I was getting a sinking feeling... I was relieved when he said he wouldn't let me do it. Whew!
BTW, although the Radias is totally different, it's actually a GREAT VA. It does some very cool stuff, and it's easy to use. Just putting that out there. |

I've never owned one but had a good (and rather enjoyable) session playing one once... Smooooth is how I would describe the sound. Kinda the opposite end of the VA spectrum... At the other end are 'brutal' VAs such as the Virus. |

I kind of regret selling my G-707/GR-700, because the synth (same as JX-3P/MKS-30) sounded really nice, but the silver guitar was pretty cool too
I bought a JX-10 thinking it would be similar, but found the sound a lot different
I really should get myself an MKS-30 one of these days _________________ Jez

I'll see your JX-10s two Microwave XTs.
I've owned two Proteus 2000s as well, but I don't regret getting rid of those at all . |

I still have my MKS-30 (or "Planet S" - what a name!) and it stays. So does my Mono/Poly. I've stopped selling synths now (I hope!). And cars... and most other things for that matter

That's pretty though competition, I must admit
Thre are some synths I do not regret selling, though. Most notably a Crumar Bit-01 and a Korg Delta.

I sometimes miss my DX7, mainly for the keyboard action. But those things never break, so I could always pick up a new one if I want (and find the space).

The Delta was the one with the really nice wood cabinet though, wasn't it?
I mean, at least it looked cool, right?
I can't be so hard on the Proteus.. the bass was insane, and the filters were great! |

If only... the Delta was kind of drab :
While the Sigma was its good looking cousin:

Oh yeah!!! I had a Delta back in the day. OK string sounds though!
I thought we were talking about the Lamda.
I found a picture of it, but I don't know how to post a picture up here... |

To post a picture :
- type in (or paste in) the URL to the picture
- select the URL
- click the Img button
You should then get something like this:
Code: |
|
Of course, you can also just type in everything (not using the img button) if you wish.

no doubt, my Prophet 5.
I sold it to buy an Alpha Centauri synth and Apple IIe computer back in '84.
Worst thing I ever did. I think I sold a SH-101, TR808 and MC202 at the same time, probably to help fund the expense of a computer.
The Alpha promised a lot (poor mans Fairlight) but never delivered.
I also sold an Aries Modular and Arp 2600 that I regret selling. |

Of the old ( now it is called vintage ) stuff I don´t really regret selling any of those. Of the new stuff I still kinda miss the Radias ( I decided to make some room in order ) as it is kinda cute, sounds good and the interface invites slighlty different excesses than some of the other gear I have ) and then I miss the Blofeld already. I returned it because I wasn´t too pleased about some faults it had. I hear the software has been improved a lot since then. I will probably not buy much new stuff any time soon. I need more space. I still need to find a place inbetween the lot for the organs and the new cabs for the dotcom synth. Is it possible to shrink gear? And the cellar and attic is all full already. Something is wrong when old and perfectly nice synths don´t end up as even doorstops.. but rather as insulation. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

In synths, as in life, I have no regrets. Everything I've gotten rid of has made way for something better. Closest to regret is selling my Korg polysix to pick up an Akai AX-60. Dunno, the Korg's pots were smoother and I miss the weird "aged wood/leaked capacitor" smell it had, but the Akai has midi w/out an expensive Kenton kit and overall it sounds more interesting.
Samplers: Here I have nothing but regrets. I gave my Casio FZ-10m to my little cousin. Not that I begrudge that, but as I gave it to him mostly because floppy disk storage was a pain I doubt he got much use out of it either. It's got the most unique (and powerful) sample loop point system I've ever found on a sampler. Combined with multiple outputs I could have easily, in hindsight, thrown together a 2 axis 4 channel mixer and used it for wavestation type sounds. I also regret having purchased a emu esi-2000 mostly because it has been a boondoggle of broken antique scsi storage devices. |

Apart from the micro-tuning, the feel of the keyboard is one reason I want to hang on to my DX11 as long as possible. It was my first synth - I've had it for 14 years now. The new keyboard synths I've played in the shops all seem like oversensitive lightweights compared to this. I've already replaced a couple of keys and springs, had all the key contacts out for cleaning, resoldered one of the audio jacks, put in a new memory battery (removeable this time, not soldered straight onto the PCB!). Now some of the tactile switches on the top panel are beginning to fail, and need to be pressed quite hard. But I'll keep it going as long as I can!
