My Phatty is #232 and never had problems.
I use everyday Reaktor, NordLead, A-Station, but to play a lead on a Phatty is another story.

I don't know how works with G2, but if you use it with OSX Tiger you must upgrade memory, or your iBook will be a turtle.
The max memory is 640Mb, you need a PC100 144pin SO-DIMM

Logic 8 is a little more CPU hungry than Logic Pro 7, but is really more easy.
Interface is in some way similar to Digital Performer with a single window.

Also for me has been a nightmare the first hours of programming A6, but I think it's normal.

A real problem for me is the display, very little characters and too sensitive knobs...
