G2 engine without computer?

Can the NM G2 engine be used without a computer, at least with regard to playing (not editing, for which I understand a computer would definitely be needed)?

How can various patches be selected if a computer is not attached?

Yes! It's basically what it was designed for. Patches can be selected through MIDI CC messages, just use the standard bank select and program select messages..
