Subject description: where to put, what to name .hlp file for 3.03
Reply with quote  Mark this post and the followings unread

Ever since I've used 3.03 (going back years on several machines) the help doesn't work. Not a huge problem (obviously I haven't bothered abotu it for nearly 8 years) but I'd like get it working, just as a quick reference withour having to bust out the manual.

If I right click on a module and pick help, I get a windows error message telling me it can't find the file and do I want to find it myself. I f I then pick it out it works fine. But ti's a drag to do over and over.

If I could rename the file & put it in the right spot it would work, but the windows error message shows the path with abreviations ("cannot find the F:\PROGRA~1\Clavia\MODULA~1.03\MODULA~2.HLP")

F:\ is my system drive. Anybody know what to name the file & folder, or how to tel NM editor 3.03 to just use the one that exists?

It should be in the same folder as the editor exe file .. IIRC ...

That's what I thought, but it doesn't find it there. It's looking in a different folder, but because the error message abrevieates the path with DOS style tildes I can't see exactly where it should be. I wonder if it's a registry entry I could change...

You could type the abbreviated path (without the help file name) into a dos box (preceded by "cd ") and see where you end up, but probably in the folder where your exe file is ...

So open a dos box, first type

"f:" <enter>

to go to the f drive, and then type

"cd \PROGRA~1\Clavia\MODULA~1.03" <enter>

and see what the full name is.

OK, I'll give that a try. I think the path doesn't exist though... so I'll probably get a similar error message. I'll try it tonight & follow up.

I have the same problem- then I remembered having this problem a long time ago as well. I went to Clavia's site and the help file for version 3.03 has to be installed separately. See attached screenshot

3. Functions in V2.1 not implemented in V3.03

Help Files are missing. They will be posted on Clavia's home page as soon as they are ready.

I guess they still forgot to package the help file in the installer when 3.03 came out. It's available as a separate download.
