TAU PCB wanted -Anyone have an extra for sale? |
 |
|
Hello
Does anyone have an extra Tau PCB that they are willing to sell?
I just found out about the PCB and I emailed JH but he doesn't have any more available.
I'm in the Boston area.
Let me know.
Thanks

I get the feeling that there are several people out there who have already asked this question. I'm guessing that there aren't many of the boards out there (and why would there be? From the clips this thing sounds absolutely fantastic!). If I had two I'd probably build two!
That being said, I think if we're lucky there may be a second run of boards sometime if:
a) JH is willing
b) There's enough demand
c) People do the right thing with these board offerings
Otherwise
d) Good luck

Juergen might do another run if enough people lined up asking. Of course, I cannot speak for him at all. If he didn't want to handle another run, perhaps someone else in this community could do so ala' the Wogglebug group buy? Several things would have to happen for that to happen, such as transfer of artwork, that might not be of interest to JH.
If enough people came up with the money to make it possible without causing any outlay on JH's part, perhaps it could happen? What would be the most polite manner of getting it to happen in regard to Juergen's time and effort?
Or is this being too pushy and nosy? Apologies to JH if so. |

K. With all of the new stuff that I've been designing and other things that I'm wanting to build, it'll be MONTHS before I have enough free time to build my Tau that I recently got from Jurgen. I'll release mine for you, since no-one has one that they can spare.
If Jurgen does another run in the future, then I can order one for myself again.
PM me for addresses / etc. Cost'll be what I paid for it and shipping to you, if that's alright. ? |

A second run is not so unlikely at all.
I'm in contact with somebody who is interested in a large number of Tau boards. If (or as I understand it: when) this is going to happen, I'll gladly add everybody else who also wants a board.
As this depends on that special order, it's not in my hands when it'll going to happen. But I'm keeping a waiting list. If you want to be on that list, just send me the same order form as for the first run. Then I can act quickly when the time has come.
No promises - but there is hope.

It's very generous of you to entertain doing another run JH.
I know right now I hesitate at the idea of perfboarding such a project (at least at the moment!).
Cheers!

Well, I'm not doing it as a non-profit undertaking
It's nice to see how music electronics now helps me to fund my music electronics.
With the dimensions this has developed with that Tau pcb project, I had to register a trade, get permission from my employer and all that formal stuff. And I'll have to pay tax for it, and learn a lot about tax, and customs, and business in general. I can only guess what I'll have to face, in terms of money and in terms of paperwork, when I'll have to pay tax next year.
So ... as soon as another run of these boards is economically justifiable, I'll gladly let it happen.

And the *time* all that takes will most likely be more than you are anticipating That's usually the killer. You'll probably have to learn to use some accounting/business software to keep track of all your expenses and revenue, too. And if you ever want to hire someone to help you, you become an employer with employees, and that involves still more rules, paperwork, etc. But, the more power to you if you have the time and energy.

It doesn't look so bad about a re-run anymore.
I just keep collecting orders - maybe we're there, in a few months.
