Joystick goodness!

VTL - I tried the 252 series a couple of years ago and was surprised how small they were - actually, not really such an advantage as the pots are actually just like little preset trimmer pots (plastic encased) - perfectly good for simple / lofi approaches though and perhaps the NEW versions are better?? I can't think of the link at the moment, but there's a StompBox parts shop that sells similar ones plus knobly bits for them. (thought it was Deviever, but it seems not..)

Caress - If I remember right the thread on top is M3 standard -> I used a wooden ball with a hole drilled into it and then inserted a nylon PCB mount into that. Hope that helps?!

i have a lot just like these but no handles! does anyone know of a source for anything? most preferred would be a simple chrome or even plastic...
regular standoffs fit just fine - they come in a variety of sizes, shapes and materials. I use a metal hex standoff with a thumb-screw on the top - looks swanky!

On the subject of joysticks - Here's my ultra-swanky lo-tech design.

http://home.earthlink.net/~erinys/tech.htm

It's a really functional SIMPLE design - giving full control of the voltage offset and range in a quick and easy to set manner (set the max and min, and you're good to go).

Anyway - have a look.

Just came across this web article on the Paia 4783 Joystic Controller; Looks a bit like a simplified Octave Catstick. There is a link here to the original Paia kit article:

Just resurfacing this thread.....

All the supplies of the good ALPS type joysticks seem to be dry...
Particular model types: RKJXB1210 / RKJXC1210

Anyone have any leads?
I've even started putting in RFQs...
Would love to get some more! I only have a few from ElectronicSurplus who now don't have 'em!
