Subject description: need some advice on which device to buy

Hello there!

I am going to purchase a midi controller device soon but I cannot decide on which one to pick. I wanna use it for drum programming, recording some synth sounds and piano and possibly some samples. It must be plug and play via USB with no driver required as I will be working on a mixed environment (Windows XP and Ubuntu Linux). Here are the choices:

1. M-Audio Oxygen 49 or 61

2. M-Audio Keyrig 25 or 49

3. M-Audio Oxygen 8 V2

4. EMU XBOARD 25 or 49

5. M-Audio Ozone

Which one would you pick and why?

Thanks a lot for any advise you can give me!

none of them

I've had M-Audio products, and they just didn't last. None of the above, however.

My friend has the EMU and loves it. He's had it for awhile and uses it frequently. He's had no trouble.

I just decided on a Kurzweil SP2X as my main keyboard controller thingie.
I still might have to get a 61 key controller with aftertouch. The M-Audio Axiom?

i play Maudio radium , one controller doesn't work anymore, (there is still 15!)
but i trust more in EMU, it looks human, robust, low price.
if you not need any controller (is it still possible?)i think that keyrig49 is the one: thin, no controller, and low price... Wink

Love my Akai MPK49 controller. It has a built in arp. You can send out midi clock, and it has aftertouch. It also has 12 MPC 500 pads with repeat.

Perhaps that Akai is what I need? Very Happy
Do they have a 61 keys version as well?

Currently only 49. It has pretty nice keyboard action, in my opinion. Seems pretty solid.
