I just wanted to get your guys opinions on this - My friend and I are planning to build 10 DS7s - 5 for each person - to basically make 2 full drum sets (minus the symbals). Is this a good idea? We are not looking for particularly good acoustic drum sounds, but I was wondering if anyone has done this before. We want to use these DS7s because we figured out the price and there gunna be less that $30 each.

I'd definitely build a complete one before deciding to build 10 -- then you can see if you'd like that many DS7s, or if you'd prefer to perhaps include other drum circuits. Without a noise source, the DS7 will be pretty limited as far as snare, click, or hi-hat type sounds go in the scope of a full drumset. You may also discover the costs are higher than you at first expected. Just my two cents. Smile

i concur with that recommendation, you will probably want a noise source. a DS7 with a noise source is called a DS8 i believe! Very Happy

I don't think I've seen a DS8 layout around anywhere, but Marc Bareille sells PCBs on his website along with the DS7 boards:

I have no idea how complex the circuits are compared to each other, but just maybe, you could make a small expansion circuit on protoboard that adds the noise source to the existing DS7 layout?
