Check out the wiggly frets and alternative scales guitars of True Temperament. Intriguing! Has anyone here tried playing one of these?

It looks interesting, but I do not understand why those frets are so wiggly. There should be some symmetry to their shape of some sort. I'm inclined to disbelieve in the experimental technique that they used to arrive at the particular wiggly shape of the frets. But I'm no expert. _________________ "Let's make noise for peace." - Kijjaz |

Dr J, that is indeed an interesting concept, and anyone who's had problems with their axe seemingly going out of tune when playing certain chords would love to see a solution to those pitch issues. I've seen short articles in certain Guitar mags about those bendy frets, but I haven't seen any reviews on paper, as it were. The prices seem to me to be, if not prohibitive, at least not at a level where I'd like to be a beta tester as a working musician, y'know?
I WILL, however keep tabs on those guys, as they might have the soution to my guitars going haywire in certain positions. Thanks! _________________ Where there are too many policemen, there is no liberty. Where there are too many soldiers, there is no peace. Where there are too many lawyers, there is no justice.

buzz feiten is not too bad

i have this system on a strat plus and it does work well. for example, it does improve the relative tuning of chords based on open c. but it's not perfect, so my other guitars are staying stock. |

That's it, isn't it; I mean, it feels somehow safer to keep on bending each string minutely to try and compensate for the tuning anomalies - on a good night it makes for great playing, but on a bad night I sound like I can't tune a guitar worth a dingo's kidney. If I were younger and was looking at a career as a studio and live guitarist for hire, I'd look into any of those options, but as it is, I reckon I'll stay with the axes I already play. _________________ Where there are too many policemen, there is no liberty. I beg to differ! There is nothing you can loose trying something new and I hope I will demonstrate what I mean in a few months Stay 'tuned' _________________ homepage - blog - forum - youtube

Carlo, I've been playing unintentional microtonal music for donkeys' years! that is not to say that I don't enjoy and really resepct the music you make within a microtonal environment. i'd actually go so far as to say that I'm humbled by it. However, being a mere part timer these days, and a lazy one at that, I won't delve too deeply into those fancy frets.
What I HAVE done, si buy an Irish Bouzouki, which got stolen, but now it's been back for five minths, and being tuned in fifths, it is a real challenge for me, as i mostly tune my guitars in forths, with the usual exception of the 2nd and 3rd string, which a third apart. _________________ Where there are too many policemen, there is no liberty. I did a post about this a while ago:
http://electro-music.com/forum/viewtopic.php?highlight=temperament&t=24106
I actually saw an interview with the swedish guy who came up with the concept on TV a while ago. He had a ragged appearance, like your average swedish 70s leftie prog guy, played some cool blues riffs. A quote of his that stuck with me translates to something like
Quote: | People say that the detuned stuff you get from ordinary guitars has its "charm". Well, they can keep that charm!
