playstation controller joysticks as cv source/ modifier

tried a search on the forum but didn't find anything on this so was wondering if anyone had done any investigation into using these
as : a ] they are plentiful
b] they are cheap often free these days
c] they are reasonably robust
d] they are easy to desolder and remove
each of these have an x and y pot that is 10k and a momentary switch
2 joysticks per controller
in the normal centred position [spring centering ]
they measure roughly 5k each way from pin 2
so with say a +15v /-15 supply via suitable resistors on pins 1 and 3
it should be possible to obtain a useable control voltage out of pin 2
have not worked out the values that would be required as yet . pretty sure i can work it out given time but someone out there surely has been here before

have breadboarded cct, this cct works ok as long as return to centre
0 volts is not absolutely critical Too much variance in position of joystick when released +/-0.25 volt on either axis
perhaps useful for cv to a VCF filter resonance/freq
it could be used via the momentary switch for note bends
so it has no effect unless pressed but not a double pole switch so only one axis can be done this way per joystick so will include that option with sil headers to switch in or bypass once i have added that and built a prototype and tested it i will post single sided board design and schematic .

I built a joystick controller module using one of those and this circuit.
I have no idea who to credit for the schematic...sorry.

The joystick is tough to panel mount, is a bit small, not very precise and does not return to zero very well.
