Hey Reve (and any others who have Rev 01 boards),

The resistors in question are R108 and R118. Take a look at the attached doc, and it will show you which end to lift and where to attach a jumper to get +V to the right points. I'm STILL working on the connector wiring diagram for the TH-102 boards, and then the Official Doc Package will be ready.

Oh, and XR boards are now back in stock at Magic Smoke!

Hmm, I don't know what the problem is. I'll have to contact John M (the web meister). In the meanwhile, let me know if there's any info you need.

The Magic Smoke web site is back up. Seems there was a problem with the web host. It looks like some of the recent updates have been lost, so if you need to verify prices or any other information, give us a shout at magsmoke@gmail.com

Thanks!!

It's going very well ackshully Wink

We've sold out the last few batches, and another batch is on order as we speak. Should be here in about two weeks or so. The Rev 02 boards corrected an error that required a couple of small jumpers, and it's a pretty nifty VCO (IMHO). The VC Skew, along with the PWM and suboctaves we added give the TH-102 some really unusual sounds. Oh, and we carry the tempcos and the XR2206 chips if you need them. If you happen to live in northern California, I'll be at the AH Nor Cal gathering on November 14th with my handmade panels, showing off the TH-102, and our other Magic Smoke stuff. Hopefully I'll have the prototype of our new VCPO ready (Voltage Controlled Phase Oscillator - two sets of outputs at the same frequency, and you can vary the phase of the second set under voltage control).

Oh, and did I mention that Thomas Henry has a new DVD on how to build a rack case, panels, wiring, mounting PCBs to panels and other goodies? It's basically a look over his shoulder as he takes care of a LOT of the mechanical details involved in putting a modular together. We'll be showing that at AH Nor Cal too. It'll be like a movie premier, but with synthesizers.

I'm super busy getting ready for the show, so please be patient. If you've sent a message to Magic Smoke and I haven't replied, yell at me again. Smile

just getting started on the magic smoke pcb build. i think i found an error in the parts list:

- C2 is a 470pF cap on the schematics
- the mouser part# 140-50N5-470J-RC given in the BOM is a 47pF cap

...and is there any list on where what pot & jack should go? It's a pain to figure that out by chance.

Hi Guys,

First off, C2 is definitely a 470pF, so if I got the Mouser part # wrong, I apologize for that!

Secondly, if you bought a Magic Smoke board and I didn't send you the build docs via email, definitely give me a shout out! I've attached the Connector Wiring doc here, but the full doc package has additional info you'll find handy.

I'm sorry if I haven't been on top of Magic Smoke emails lately. Between my wife being a bit sick (nothing serious, but her back went out and put her off her feet for a while), and then moving this weekend, I've had a lot on my plate recently. Confused Still, if you have a board and don't have the docs, let me know!
