MIDI-CV converter and CV Recorder / Sequencer Subject description: possible small PCB run |
 |
|
Dear Friends,
some of us have visited the site www.acoupel.com. As I don't have a MIDI/CV converter now, and the P-Sequencer on that site is way awesome, I'll buy myself some PCBs.
Now is buying PCBs a bit expensive if one only buys one board. So I mailed the designer, Mr. Coupel with a question.
He's ok with offering the PCBs for both projects here
So before I'm going to translate the sequencer page, and adding some connectors to the PCB, I have a question for you: are you interested in those designs?
A little information about the modules.
MIDI to CV converter
- 3 modes: monophonic, polyphonic 1 channel, polyphonic 4 channels
In polyphonic modes:
- 4 CV out, 4 Gate out and 1 trigger out
Monophonic mode:
- 2x note CV out + pitchwheel
- 3x gate out
- 2x trigger out
- 1x velocity out
- 1x modwheel out
The module uses a PIC16F88, and 12-bit DACs (MCP4822)
http://www.acoupel.com/MIDI%20CV%20Gate/intro_midi%20cv%20gate.htm
P-Sequencer
- Record CV in two tracks
- 2 tracks (A and B). A can have 48 notes, B 44.
- Melodic sequences and sequences at certain intervals
- Transpose sequence A with B or with a CV
- Track B can be played 2, 4 or 8 times as slow as A
- many more.
The module uses a PIC16F88, and 12-bit DACs (MCP4822)
http://www.acoupel.com/sequencer/intro/intro_sequencer.htm
For now: I plan to do a little run of the MIDI-CV converter first, and afterwards the P-Sequencer. That way I can test the sequencer with playing on my keyboard.
Hope you all like it, and let me know if you're interested.
Cheers,

I would be interested in 2 boards of the P-Sequencer. Nice to see them possibly being offered. I've been on that site a few times, nice stuff there. _________________ Garret: It's so retro.

could be interested in
the midi to cv
however midi channel selection would
need to be selectable, not automatic on first note,
for multiple units to be usefull.
It would be a bit of a stumbling block for me as its
not much good if they all locked onto the same midi channel
on the first note sent
definitely interested in the p seq would buy a couple of those
maybe 4

If you played the wrong on the wrong channel, there is a reset button.
But indeed, it would be nice if one can set them with e DIP switch instead. I'll look into the source code, and look for possibilities there. _________________ Weblog! |

Wow, this is great!
I'll just repeat what DGTom said, thanks for making this available... I'd be interested in four P-seq boards for sure...
But would you provide the programmed PICs with the PCB's? I can't write PICs and I don't really fancy getting into that!

Hi! I don't have a PIC burner myself, and as I am a linux user, I don't know what programmer to buy to do it. If you all want it, I'll look into it, as I have some ideas for PIC based designs as well.
A note on the amount of PCBs: as I am a student, and I don't have many 'free money' available, I have to put a limit. I am thinking of that now, and of course want to please everyone. If you want pre-burned PICs, the limit has to go down. _________________ Weblog! |

A pre-programmed PIC would be really really nice - might even effect if I sign up for a board or not. |

I'm also interested. By the way, most of us probably know this, but Google has a page translation tool. Sometimes you get funny output, but it seems like it is improving with time.
I'm not currently building modular synths, but I am increasingly interested in doing so. I have plans to save up for a Virus TI, and then I think I'll start using my studio cookie jar to start buying modular stuff. |

Intrested in 2 Midi CV Boards.
Is there a Chance for a DAC groupbuy too, its availavle only at a few shops.
I have a Picprogrammer, still untested, but if its running I would offer to burn some pics, I have also more time on February. |

I agree. The MCP4822 is not available at my regular shops, and I will order a few at Farnell or another shop. DAC groupbuy is for me easier to do then offering the PICs. But then again: more DACs means less PCBs in one run. _________________ Weblog! |

Maybe we find someone who would do the DAC Order. I´m willing to do the Pic´s with burnt programmes on to it. |

Sounds like a good idea. Personally I think its good to have the components and pcb in the same package. So we save on shipping. _________________ Weblog! |
