Groupbuy TR909 clone, 9090 components |
 |
|
Hey,
All the packages have been sent of the previous groupbuy that I have organized. Again some people asked me to organize a new groupbuy. and....
I am starting a new groupbuy, you can put your name on the list by filling out the form on:
http://www.synthage.com/groupbuy/groupbuy.php
I am still on a vacation but as soon as I am back in February I will start sourcing the components again. The kit will be the more or less the same as the previous one.
Kind regards,
Jef Last edited by MB909 on Mon Feb 10, 2014 1:58 pm; edited 2 times in total |

Hi, I`m interested. How much is it for the boards, IC`s and rare parts, approximately?

I don't know how much Jef is charging for his parts kit, but you get the pcbs, the pic chip and the cymbal roms for 60 Pounds Sterling. More info at http://www.introspectiv.org.

Hey,
I am putting the boards in the kit for the exact same price as Trevor (65 Euro's), but the cool thing of a groupbuy is that you do not pay postal costs with every supplier. for example the postal charges of having one set of boards sent to you is 5 pounds, the postal charges of having 10 sets of boards sent to me is 4 pounds, which is 0.4 pounds for one set.
I am buying the components from 5 suppliers, they charge from 14 Euro's to 6 Euro's for postal costs. If you do the math, you are better of buying a complete set.
When I bought the components for my 9090, the bill was well over 400 Euro's without the boards! And this was after I've put all my spare time during two three weeks in finding the right components.
So I figured I could help people building this great Roland 909 clone with organizing a groupbuy. I used the list of my 9090 and started looking for better and less expensive components. I have also tried to put as much as possible high quality and original components with the correct lead distance in the kit. I have only replaced a few 7.5mm lead distance capacitors with 5mm ones because the price difference was ridiculous.
But of course there is a catch, I am hoping that 9090 owners would also like to enter the MB909 sequencer http://www.synthage.com/Sequencer/default.html groupbuy, once the sequencer is completely finished (I am now in the process of testing the boards I made at home with the toner transfer method). That way, I can also have a nice MB909 sequencer PCB for an affordable price
Having that said, I am still waiting for two price quotes for the rare parts.
As soon as I have the correct prices, I will post them on my website. Last edited by MB909 on Tue May 01, 2012 9:26 am; edited 1 time in total |

I have received all the prices for the components to populate the 9090 boards, but without transfo, without potmeters, without frontpanel, without MB909 sequencer.
The price for all the components including the rare parts= 250,00 Euro
The price for the 9090 boards with PIC's and PROM= 65,00 Euro
The price for postal charges= 17,95,00 Euro
I will calculate how much the price of the rare parts is as soon as possible.
I am still looking for an affordable potmeter set, as soon as I have sourced, I will post the price on this page.
I will close the groupbuy on the 14th of February then I'll order all the components and make the packages. Please be aware that making the packages is a huge job that takes a few weeks.
I have managed to get more or less the same components like the last groupbuy, which means that the original transistors and rare parts are in the kit. Again I have tried to have the highest amount of quality possible for this price. The IC sockets are of a really good quality (not the GS type), all the resistors are 1% tolerance, original 2,5% polystyrene capacitors are used, most other caps have tolerances of 5% and 10%, even the electrolytic caps are high temp, high quality, etc, etc...

hey,
I only have two sets of the SA 798 G transistors for the 9090 bulkorder of July (which will be closed in about 10 days) The 9090 works perfect with the 1115 transistors as a replacement for the 4 SA 798's, but original is original! (PS: my 9090 is working fine without the SA 798's).
You can still join the bulkorder on: http://www.synthage.com/groupbuy/groupbuy.php
Cheers,
Jef |

yes it is that Richard.
What do you think of the design and the fact that it is an overlay?

hey all, I have installed a new forum on my website for the 9090. If you have questions about sourcing components, if you don't know why you only hear a click when triggering x instrument,.... but also when you want to post your solution to a problem or post your picutures of your finished 9090....you can now go to: http://www.synthage.com/Betaforum/PhPforum/forums.html
cheers,
