nord modular G1 CV out |

Attention NM1 owners with eurorack modulars (or anything with CV input) who have some soldering ability. It is possible to bypass the dc blocking capacitors on the outputs. This will allow you to interface the NM1's virtual modules with your eurorack etc.
The approach I used is posted here:

Audio can still be sent out of the modded outputs.
I am not sure what protection the blocking cap provides. Varice modded his G2 years ago, I've been using mine for a few weeks without issue. The data sheet for the LMC662CM opamp (used in my NM1 rack) states it has an ESD tolerance of up to 1000v. So it has some tolerance to static shock.
As far as short protection the data sheet says a prolonged current draw over 30ma could degrade the chip. If I used Ohms law correctly 4.78v (the maximum output voltage) divided by the 470 ohm resistor = about 10ma.
Combining the raw organic sound of a eurorack's filters and oscillators with the nord's variety of modules and patch save ability is the best of both worlds. |

The danger comes from user error - plugging the G1 into a mixer that has it's Phantom power turned on. This could push up to +48V into the output stage of the G1 causing much damage. The Phantom power button is an easy one to hit by mistake on a lot of mixers and will cause little damage if any to microphones if done by mistake. _________________ James Husted, Designer
