Hey all
I am hoping this is the best place to share a recent album I released made entirely on the Nord Modular G2 demo, specially for anyone interested in limitations.

After releasing an album back in 2014 using on the Nord G1: https://sm-ll.bandcamp.com/album/pokk-default-0002, I have been further exploring my interest in software/hardware that poses limitations, and/or interesting workflows. I purchased back lots of hardware that I had sold off in the 90's, Ataris STE, 606 etc, adding things such as the Yamaha Qx1 which has been getting a lot of use.
While thinking about the next Pokk! release, it suddenly dawned on me that I had yet to really dig properly into the G2 demo software. To my surprise I created something that I was very happy to release, and created it in roughly two sittings, the initial sketch and patch creation and, months later checking in with those patches, I recorded six jams that resulted in the release.
What with more and more technology being developed to make our lives easier, enabling us to create sounds and patterns with ease, I wonder what we are missing out on when alternatively faced with creating with limitations?
Many of my favourite albums from artists have often been near the beginning of their career, and I often wonder if that was at a point whereby they either had less or limiting equipment? Or perhaps they had yet to master their sound or direction, resulting in sometimes more interesting, rougher and ultimately more inspiring releases?
Just some thoughts this morning over coffee, and thanks in advance to anyone who listens/supports the links above.
Thx
