Voltage Controlled Programmable Double Resistor

I love electronics and music but I'm not a musician. Years ago I made a clone of the Electro Harmonix EH400 synth. As we know, it cannot be controlled by Control Voltage because it has a resistor chain and a membrane that shorts it in specific point on that chain to produce a specific pitch.

I came up with an Arduino based 16 bit double resistor that can act as a potentiometer and wired to the synth it can control its pitch. I know that it could be made into a module.

I would like to ask for your ideas of how it would look like, what inputs and outputs it would have. My specific ideas would be posted in following posts.
