Dear Anyone.

Hokay, I'm gonna be coming here from time to time (just warning ya!) with 'how-dey-DOO-dat' questions cos I want to learn how things are done, NOT because I want to 'rip off' anyone's style.

If you listen to the backing behind the tune in Oxygene Pt. 4, it's a synth. sound but it's got a 'swirl' effect on it. It swIRLS BIGGER THan down again!

I've heard that trick used on other tracks too - but I don't know how they do it. I've tried with LFOs for ages but if that's it, there's something I'm not understanding (Lord knows there's enough I'm not understanding, hence joining this forum!) but if anyone could tell me how that swirly's done, and if you can use the same trick on any given sound, I'd be really obliged. If it starts off as an effect like (for instance, random choice!) chorus (or whatever!) could you explain how to use it a bit, so I can get started and go on from there?

Yours hopefully - I'll prob. have another question soon! I do watch videos and stuff but I'm 'orrible for thinking I'm doing what the video guy's doing and getting it totally wrong! -

Chris.

I haven't heard that track, but off the top of my head I'm guessing it's a phaser/flanger effect, they can have a kind of swirly sound. The basic idea is to delay a copy of the sound and you can vary the delay with a LFO.
