DOSS v1,2 Subject description: Stereo distorted synth with full stereo path |
|
|
An attempt to make an agressive, distorted, fat sounding, simple/easy to control
2 oscillator synth with a sequencer and a full stereo path. I know... it sounds boring,
but none of the patches in the library offers what I'm looking for.
I want something that's raw, evil, screams and has balls but still sounds good when
you push it to the limits
Various tricks (mainly from the building blocks library) are used to 'beefen up' the sound,
(drift/jitter, resonant filter, tilt filter, soft clipper, harmonic distorter, saturation...)
ofcourse all full stereo. Because it's a full stereo path I had to use morph groups for
some things.
Use morph groups 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 & 7 to control
- Resonance (Left/right)
- Clip amount (Left/right)
- Clip Tone (Left/right)
- Bit reduction (Left/right)
- Harmonic distorter (Left/right)
- Saturation curve (Left/right)
(all left/right morph ranges are slightly different from eachother to make it even more stereo)
All parameters are assigned to the front panel for easy access,
so if you go the keyboard version, turn off that computer & sync it to
a drumcomputer!
The modules outside the screenarea are modules you are not supposed to tweak,
i've tried to keep the controls to an absolute minimum to make it user friendly and easy to control.
I've also used no effects in this patch because I wanted it to sound raw
and effects only seem to make the sound smoother.
All variations are manually crafted except for the 7th one,
which is actually my favourite, ohhh I love that mutator,
it does nice things with this patch
(thanks to rob & tim for the building blocks! That softclipper is wonderful rob!)
enjoy & happy jamming!
