What's everyone going to make/use on their Chameleon? |
|
|
All,
So, what is everyone going to make or use on their Chameleon?
For myself, I need to do some more work on Phoenix ( http://www.chameleon.synth.net/english/skins/phoenix/ )
I also want to make some more headway with my Wave 2.C skin (At the moment it just has one static wavetable) and also I want to work on Qube (kind of hard to explain, but somwhere between a 3 dimensional vector synth and a wavetable synth).
so, what is everyone else making?

I´m a user and not a developer. I´ve mostly been using the Infiltrator and Monoware skins. I really hope Paul´s PPG Wave clone will be finished some day.
The Monowave is excellent. I´ve recently used it as a replacement for a PPG playing a monophonic line and then piped it into some analog modules and stuff. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

Thanks for the comments.
If you like the monowave, you should give phoenix a try, even though it's not finished it's at least 6 note polyphonic with the same waveforms, filter and a chorus rather than delay.
I'll work through my notes on the wave 2.c and see if I can pick up where I left off, it's been a while since I did anything on it.

Right!
I will give it a spin! can´t wait! Hmm.. oh yes I can. I´ll be off to Cadaques on wednesday morning and I´m packing. The only musical stunt I´ve planned until I leave is to play along to some records .. using Lounge Lizard. You know, I really think the remastered version of VDGG´s World record needs some grungy electric pianos. Especially Meurglys III.. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

You can hear sounds of Phoenix on the webpage. Have fun on your trip, and let me know what you think of Phoenix when you get back.
anyone else tried it?

How close is the Phoenix to a PPG Wave 2.x?
Did you clone the interface/parameters and such as well? _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

Inspired by the latest Chameleon wave, I've just installed a fresh SDK and run some builds
My boxes are still packed away after moving. Have to dig one out now... There's no opening for any big projects, but I'll have a play just for fun

Well I got mine to learn a bit about programming dsp.
I am currently working my way through the examples.
Then I was going to move onto the Monowave sample and initially try to get it working with 6 channel midi for using with a midi guitar.
Then who knows.
Cheers

The only real similarity is that it has some of the waveforms from the PPG ROMs.
It doesn't have wavetables, and the interface/parameters are very different. For example there are 2 oscillators on the PPG, Phoenix has three, There are three ADSR EGs (PPG has 2 ADSR and 1 AD) and the LFO has 64 waveforms (the PPG had 4).
Also the filter has a 'polesweep' option, which allows you to mix 1Pole and 4 Pole outputs.
And finally, Phoenix has a stack mode where you can detune the voices (not only pitch, but also filter cutoff, resonance, etc).

I purchased mine as a way to get into DSP programming as well. My intentions are to focus on drum/percussion synthesis and anything that is generally weird sounding. |
