How to CV control the Grinder ? |

Hi,
i like the Grinder very much.
I have built two as little standalone Modules ( one installed) so it is used now very often and i got a good hang to it now.
I really would like to have the Grinder with CV control for both: Drive and Lag.
How can i do this ?
I think Vactrols would not be the best choice, the behave depends too much of a kind of a treshold.
Can somebody point me to a cuircuit that could be adapted ? I guess something with OTA or so doesn't it ?
I would try to draw a board if seeing clear concerning the circuitry.
Ken, not interested to draw a schematic or making a own Board ? Grinder is soooo great ! give it CV please |

it looks to me as i just could add a VCA between LE and LC, also DE and DC instead of pots.
the two pots seem just to act like a door you can close or keep it open.
Respectivly could i add insertjacks there. gonna make a new panel and test it with insertjacks.

as suggested by Ken in many of his circuits, mix in a positive DC signal to "animate" the threshold point.
Use a mixer that accept AC and DC signals and use a DC that you like for that duty.
For instance, the output of an envelope follower of some kind (now you could use CGS76, the Serge Slope, wich can be used as a follower too)
The typical example would be a PsychoLFO
I also thought about controlling this little circuit, but I think Ken advise was always to controll it through the sources (amplitude of the audio via VCA to "control" the Drive, a DC signal to "control" the Lag, the timbre of the audio signal, etc.)

OK, now I look at the schematic and my suggestions were more for the Folder, Lockhart, tube VCA and other circuits...
But for the Grinder, an VCA at the lag loop should do something and a vactrol for Lag is something I'd like to try too.
... you could process (VCA or whatever) the signal coming from the lag circuit (before the Drive pot) and reinject it at the Drive pot... (the first op amp in the circuit looks like an inverting mixer that see two signals thru a 100k resistor -input and lagged- If I'm right, you may use an VCA here -or whatever, of course)
all speculations but ... :)

Yup
as i read this i have here a Grinder MK-II close to be ready for wiring.
That one will get insertpoints so that i can patch out to a VCA |
