Hello all
I realized long ago the bank of vocal filters of the VP 330 as it is, but once connected on my modular, the sound was certainly saturated for reasons of impedance and level.
Is it someone would have the plans of the clone of regretted Jurgen?

I had already realized these filters on a veroboard deck but, during the tests, the levels were inappropriate and cells saturated.
Furthermore, I think that it would be necessary to realize circuits of input and output to be able to accept levels of high, compatible signal instrument and modular.
I also believe that these filters work in a way optimum with the signals generated by the strings section of the VP330, no?
The module of Jurgen, visible on video YouTube, connected directly on a synthesizer with a sound of strings I believe, the result is fantastic and with a chorus.... |

I had redrawn the bank of filters of the VP 330. My problem is thus the adaptation of the inputs of 4 groups of filters to make only the only one. These 4 inputs result from output Upper and Lower for male and female voice, I had thought of using the principle of filters of band to be able to decompose the entering signal....

OK, you're a lot further along than I realized.
Some input and output buffers are definitely necessary if working with typical modular synth signal levels. If you look at page 13 of the VP330 service manual, the upper left corner (labeled AGH17) shows the waveforms and their amplitudes that are being fed into the Human Voice filter. The amplitudes range from 1.5 to 2.9 V p-p, so definitely lower than what most modular VCOs output. I'm guessing that you also have to add an output buffer that boosts the signal a bit.

I realized my autonomous version of the vocal filters of the VP 330 today.
I thus have, on the good advice given here, realized a circuit of input limiting the input signal with a resistance of 47k in serial with a potentiometer of 50k what allows to divide in minima the signal by two approximately.
I have to add a simple AOP in mixer reverser on output of filters.
Test was realized with my JX 3P, with sound of strings + chorus and that works well. I would redo a try with a chorus connected after the filters as on the VP... |

Here is thus a small demonstration of the filters of VP 330 in which passed a sound of strings of JX-3P.
The sound lead is my clone of CS-80 (monophonic version at the moment), the sound of bass arises from Yusynth

I have the impression that it is the design of Jurgen Haible. On the left part, it is the original design of Roland. I have doubts on the value of resistance of 1k2 on filters, it would be possible that it is in fact 162k says to what the person having posted the documents of the first link.
Is it possible to replace the BA662 by one 3080 easier to find? Somebody have the schematic of the design of Jurgen HV 330? |

just discoverd that thread......
a question: for variant vocal sound i like to add the signal by pots to each filter stage. i'd set 220k parallel to the input resistors and the 100k-pot before. input to the pot is switched similar to the schematic from chok (to ground).
can this work?
resistor: 1R2K in original cant be 162k.
R letter as comma?
capacity similar noted. R as µ. |
