Wout, wout, come in man.......

Been reading and experimenting with my newly acquired lead 2, love this synth to bits, I really do but I just can't get the thing to receive new patches that I have download. I'm using midiox and wndows 7.......

Then in my research I find this: http://www.infekted.org/virus/showthread.php?t=24260

The last post says lead 2 keyboard can't import patches without a pcmcia card....... Is this correct?

Please help........

Cheers bloke,
Og.

I have discovered that when transferring sysx files to the NL2 via CHEAP CHINESE MIDI CABLES such as the one pictured below your nord may do weird spasmodic things, like produce a godawful hanging ringing high pitched noises, and changing every patch in the bank, and even hanging notes like a hold function is engaged. I just purchased a Roland UM-1EX and all my problems have gone away and now my NL2 has all new patches uploaded on it !!! Hoora !!! So this is a post for future problems and hope someone finds this useful Smile

Thanks man !!! Its a great forum, helped me with heaps of things so I'm glad I can give something back to the NL2 electro-music community.

Hope my findings helps people out. Fwiw the UM-1EX only cost me AU$20 second hand.

Oh yeah and you can upload sysx programs to the 40 writeable (ram or rom - can never remember which) slots in the NL2 without a PCMCIA card so that dude on that other forum was trippin lol.

Over the past decade I have seen many problems by users in several forums resolved by getting rid of improperly designed 1x1 interfaces. I have seen some write-ups of the apparent causes of the issues, including one excellent, very well detailed site. I will see if I still have or can find the link.

As I recall, sometimes it can be hardware related, sometimes it can be firmware related, including issues with lack of two-way communication, improper handling on running status and/or sysex, etc.

Glad you got your issue resolved. Thanks for sharing the resolution that worked.

Steve
