Is the Andromeda sturdy enough for frequent transportation? |

Hey folks! Does anybody of you use the Andromeda in live situations frequently? How does it keep up?
Specifically, is it sturdy enough to travel between my band's rehearsel room and my homestudio once a week, and maybe to a live gig every other month? I have a Gator hardcase and will handle the unit very carefully, but I'm afraid a few bumps here and there are unavoidable. Will the unit survive that like a NORD, or is it more on the fragile side?
I'm consdering to buy a second Andromeda to reduce transportation stress (on both the unit and myself ) but I'd rather not if I don't absolutely have to. The used prices are at around or over €3000 at the moment...
Cheers,

i used it a lot with transport , no problem as long as you handle it with normal care.
having said that i also had a spare one as i was afraid of it failing ( which it never did). sold it for the same price after stopping with that band |

Thanks. I will handle the unit with great care... I would be very unhappy if it broke, especially since I modded it into the blackface version. But I think I'll start saving for a second one anyway...

I wish I had added better end cheeks.. wooden or similar. My A6 was moved around 2012 and got dropped pretty hard on one side by a mover. The voice volume knob and little knob beside it somewhat damaged, and the value for this knob will jitter and be difficult to control, sometimes constantly recalling the value on the main screen.
I would only trust it being transported in a hard shell case with foam cut out to *exactly* the knobs etc on top and detail of the bottom, a perfect fit.
If I can get mine fixed (it is still quite usable as I can usually get the jitteriness to go away with some knob turning) I will look into making up or buying a case that meets these requirements, and share details if you have not already found a solution by then. |
