I was trying to find information on diode based all pass filters when I bumped into this: https://www.czh-labs.com/products/audio-all-pass-filter-phase-rotator-module-board-md-a110-audiowind-a-110
For US$20 it seems a reasonable price ... being through hole construction it should be easily modifiable to add variable phasing with vactrols or diodes.

I thought the explanation was not very clear. I think he is trying to say that if you have transients in your signal (possibly due to interference) you can use the APF to smear the different frequency components of the transient to reduce its audibility. But then again he may be suggesting that the "leading phase" APF can be used to compensate for phase shifts caused by low pass filters. Or maybe both ... or maybe something else entirely.
