Hey Synth_ollie, nice system.

When I see big 100M systems I am reminded of Rolands "Big clearance" where they internationally dumped all the 100M modules for very low prices.
I think Mr Zimmer got his for about UK10 each.
In NZ, all the warehouse stock went to someone who latter lost the lot in a fire.
Were you one of the lucky ones?

hehe, maybe not that lucky....

I had a few cabs early 1990´s and then got a couple more, then a few years ago I was lucky to get 6 more cabs from a guy in finland at a very good price, then I had 12 cabinets

however, that system vas sort of "too big to handle" so I sold off 3 cabs and today I have 9, wich is the least you gotta have if youre gonna have some rollie 100m fun Smile

This is my modular, just over 120 modules, most of it is Doepfer. It has reached it´s peak in hight, as the two racks with Metasonix modules can´t be put on the top.
There are still some modules on the way in, one Cyndustries Zerooscillator (still waiting for delivery) and one Dopefer Dynamic VCO (not yet in production).
My plan is to build a wooden casing for it that is three 19" racks wide and 7 x 3HU racks high. But it still has to be done.
I theory, it is capable of 14 independent voices with VCO, VCF and so on. But in practical use, I seldom exceed seven or eight voices, as they tend to fill the whole sound spectrum.
I started with three 6HU racks three years ago, and thought by than that it would be enough for the rest of my life.
But I was wrong.

I guess earthquakes aren't an issue in the great white north... Laughing

In the San Francisco area, I could never dream of stacking something up so high without mounting it to rack rails. The thought of it all coming crashing down is too scary :

Per,
you must be a very tall guy to be able to reach the top of that stack of modules Cool

I am not so tall at all, so it has reached it´s limit in size...
There are actually some problems that occurs when the system gets this big. Even the l20 cm/50 inch cables are too short to cover the full hight. Of course DIY cables is possible, but solder 50 cables is nothing I look forward to do.
With increasing size, the layout gets increasingly important. The modules that are used together must be mounted close to each other to avoid a total cable mayhem.
I have redesigned the system many times to get it right. Now there are one area for clock and gate processing, one for CV and CV processing and separate VCO, VCF and VCA areas. Audio processing is still spread out, and I have no good solution for that yet.
On the other hand, part of the fun is to rebuild the machine. And strangely, I have noticed that when I arrange the modules in new ways, it change my wat of using them.
Modulars is an intuitive business.

Small, but pretty freaky. Actually inspired by the old oakwood box it is in.

Yeah, I can do that, though I need to organize some scanner first to scan some notebook pages.
