Subject description: PCB LAYOUT FOR PANEL COMPONENTS
Reply with quote  Mark this post and the followings unread

I'm thinking of coming up with a pcb layout for all the resistors, diodes, etc. that are mounted to panel components. As I continue assembling my SLMS I find that a pcb for these parts would be much more neat and organized than having them hang loose behind the panel. Before I spend the time creating the pcb does anyone out there have a design for this purpose already written? And do any of the more experienced engineers out there have any advice/words of caution? Thanks!

I think you might be needlessly complicating things a bit.
By the time you wire from the first PCB to the panel component PCB and then on to the panel (and back) you'll have added a whole lot more wiring, which increases the chances of making a mistake, and also increases crosstalk.
I thought about not saying anything, I didn't want to rain on your parade, but that's not very honest or constructive. Cool Ignore my thoughts completely if you like, I often do! Laughing

Disregard any thoughts of "raining on my parade" I want any and all info that would make a better synth in the end. That's why I wrote in.....

hey sure why not? theres alot of good pcb mount pots out there.. maybe you could do a double-sided pcb and even legend the outside and have it serve as your front panel! or put in some touch-switches.. thats cool
