Subject description: Editor refuses to see MicroModular via MIDI ports, and I need to find the tempo/rate of a patch...

If there are any users of the MicroModular out there, I need to find out the tempo or rate of the arpeggiating filter on Patch 21 (Pan Tau) of the MicroModular V3.0 factory presets. It's approximately 185bpm...

Because the editor won't see my MIDI ports (even though they are correctly configured and all other software can see them) I can't inspect the parameters of the patch.

Any help would be hugely appreciated! Thanks,

- Sam

I'm sure somebody will have it but wouldn't it be much better to try and get your ports back up?

What OS are we talking about? are you perchance running some DAW-ish thingy that claims all midi ports as his own?

I know this jumping the gun seeing as you haven't identified any hardware or even the platform you are running.

If using a pc, remember that windows xp dosen't really like the editor and you need to run it in 98 or me compatability mode (at least on all my machines i've needed to) in its properties to make it happy again.

It must be fairly depressing to have such power just out of reach, sort it out man!

Hi Erstlaub/Kassen,

Thanks for your interest. My system details below.

Machine: Dell Inspiron 6000 (Pentium M 1.73GHz)
OS: Windows XP (all updates)
RAM: 1GB

Audio interface: Echo Layla 24/96 via PCMCIA slot

The editor *did* work on my previous laptop (a Compaq Presario 1500, Pentium IV 2.4GHz) with the same audio interface - it's been over a year since I last used the editor.

MIDI ports aren't seen by the editor even with no other programs running, so I don't think it's a port-grabbing issue.

I have had some problems with MIDI sync under Cubase SX on the new machine which I did not have on the older one: playback is okay, but recording MIDI live is disastrously out-of-time. I suspect that this is unrelated to the MicroMod editor issue though, since

a) The Micro Updater can see the MicroMod immediately
b) Despite the sync problems, the MIDI ports are visible to all other programs

I will try running it with the Program Compatibility Wizard. Please let me know if you have any bright ideas! Thanks again,

- Sam

92 BPM on the clock generator.
