OK. I have fiddled enough with the Nord Modular G2 demo. As I was expecting something like Reaktor or SynC Modular, I am disappointed with many things - especially the lack of accuracy and microtuning (I know threre is a workaround for microtuning). Regardless, I propably "need" to make the purchase. Before opening my wallet, I would like to ask whether you know, if there is something better coming out in the near future.

Best regards

AFAIK, there are no real alternatives to the G2 out there. The Clavia modulars are pretty unique instrument designs. The possible alternatives are either shrinkwrapped software instruments, analog modulars or software based enviroments like CSound or chuck. Obviously none of these are really a good substitution for a G2. Many musicians and composers end up with the lot anyway: a G2, some secondhand NM-1 modulars, soiftware modulars, CSOUND and analog synth modules. Very Happy

you can't microtune, but you can easily "ratio tune" which is not to be underestimated.

The systems that I consider alternatives are the KYMA and Creamware Modular.

Creamware Modular works only with a Pulsar soundcard - it isn't ported to Noah.

KYMA... gulp.

I am looking for a portable box to realize some simple ideas exactly to my liking. It seems I should go with Nord Modular despite its' shortcomings.

Demends on how dirty you are willing to get your hands.

The Soundart Chameleon is hardware, portable and supports "accuracy" (not so sure what you meant there exactly) and micro-tuning as soon as you implement them.

The downside is that you'd have to implement those....

That is interesting, but gets perhaps too low level for me. I read 500 units were sold and plans for MkII were canceled. If there was larger user base, the Chameleon would obiously be even more interesting.
