Subject description: What do you think of the sound?

I had a 30 minute play with the new Korg Radius yesterday. The first 10 minutes were spent trying to work out how to edit a sound. Once I got the hang of the UI and was able to audition individual features, I was struck by how similar the sound was to the microkorg, sort of fuzzy for want of a better description. I could detect no aliasing but admittedly, I hadn’t figured out how to transpose up high enough to where it might be a problem.
It is quite well endowed with features and I like the feel of the knobs but the UI looks like it would take a long time to get used to. The price seems very good at NZ$2995.
Perhaps my impression of the sound was due mostly to the monitoring setup. Has anyone else had a play?

I love that thing! It sounds great and the excellent features and the nice UI means it is great for live use.

these days finding good sounding synths is not hard but the "cool" factor seems to get old very quickly or maybe it's just me getting old Shocked

Well, at least Korg have invested a lot of effort in making this thing not look like some MOR polkaboard device.

yeah, it could be the monitors the store had the synth hooked up to... I currently own a Radias and really don't think it sounds that much like the MS2000/MicroKorg synths (previously owned both an MS2000R [for about 4 or 5 years] and MicroKorg [approximately 2 years] ), to me it has a clearer, brighter sound. the UI isn't actually that difficult to grasp once you've gone over the manual and spent a little time working with it.
