OK NOW I AM WORRIED

i wanted to real fast send our friend edison some of my music, just some direct links to songs i liked before i finished with the cache business....now firefox crashes whenever I try and get to an mp3 that is on mypage. this is like a horror movie for computer geeks.....what the fuck and shit and duck.
well, i'll just not think about and deal with the cache folders.

OK.. please read the list yourself.

Some errors here are OK. These are socalled oldstyle parser errors.. and mostly means that the pref files aren´t in the expected format.

However, at the top you see that Motu PCI Audio Console.rsrc is damaged.
That is something else. I dunno what this file does.. Edisonrex might know.

Since this is the resource fork, it just might contain info that something Motu related is using.

File: "._MOTU PCI Audio Console.rsrc"
Detected that the resource header is damaged and cannot be repaired

Location: "Macintosh HD/System/Library/Extensions/MOTUPCIAudio.kext/Contents/MacOS/MOTU PCI Audio
Console.app/Contents/Resources/"

See?

I don´t know what this does.

Ignore that one. You have booted from another drive now anyway. Use Safari if you must.

BUt you wouldn´t touch the cache stuff until we are done with the file check thingie here..

EdisonRex? What does that Motu file do?

Yes.. all files and folders with the User/Library/Caches/

Trash and kill. These aren´t active now anyway because you have booted form another drive. You might be asked for an admin password though..

MOTU PCI Audio Console is the PCI 424 card (christ mate, you got a lot of stuff I have)...

For that file to be corrupted, something is definitely wrong with your system.

Now, you can delete a resource file but I'd rather you reinstalled the MOTU software for the audio console (you do have a PCI 424 driving some one of the MOTU interfaces, right)

...

I guess it's my turn now Confused

yes!

But.. I would love to see Digiton kill the caches. Empty the trash. Then choose the main drive as the startup. Reboot. Then wait say 60 secs and reboot again. Then I want him to install Onyx from that link above somwhere. Then I want him to optimize/rebind the entire system. While he is doing that I don´t want him to have any apps open.. not even a browser. After the rebinding thingie he reboots and then you take over.

Very Happy

i think i just made a booboo.
I have cleared the system cache on my HD macintosh
and I cleared another folder that said cache, with alot of strange documents
then i trashed my library/users cache on Macintosh HD, I didn't throw out the FOLDER that said Caches but I think fucked it up and threw out every fold INSIDE the single folder Cache....Are you guys ready to kill me now? Smile Or is this not bad?

The folder containing the shit is called Caches. You keep this. What is INSIDE of it you throw away.

Keep in mind that we are doing this to a system disk which is not active. Doing the same with the system active might lead to pretty weird stuff happening.

okok
i know you guys want me to relax but you don't know how wierd it feels to be doing this that YOU have no clue what they are. I am not saying i don't trust what you guys have in mind, it's just i feel utterly blind in the matter.....so anyway, all the caches are out. Do you want me to download onyx and then reboot from my normal "tride and true" HD?

Wait with the downloading.. first go into Startup disk.. choose your main drive again.. reboot.. wait some 60 secs or so.. reboot again.. then follow that link for Onyx.

and lastly, why do you have to startup from a different disk to fully repair a disk (if that isn't too complicated)?

Such tools will usually kill the caches on the disk you are booting from. You are booting from the LaCie..so we wouldn´t accomplish much. Let it be for now. Very Happy

Indeed! EdisonRex is right. The OS owns the boot drive and has a lot going on. There will be invisble swap files, indexing and whatnot..
