I want to do things like drive a sampler from my very analog modular synth. Is that feasible? Ideally I'd want one CV to represent pitch, another CV to represent velocity and a gate for note on/off. Any ideas? I've been Googling this and not getting very far.

The Paia 9201DK MIDI Drum Brain Kit is a promising start. It's designed to convert trigger pulses from eight analog percussion sensors into MIDI Note On/Off and velocity data. That leaves out pitch though.

Apparently the Kenton Control Freak series can be made to convert CV and gate to MIDI but their documentation has makes it sound a little iffy (hanging notes) and is not quite explicit enough. Anyway, this leaves out velocity.

Apparently nobody does this. So we must find a way!
