Hi, i am new to the forum and was wondering if anyone could help me...

I just bought a nord lead 1, and when first using it some of the keys do not work, maybe only 2/3 im bit confused why this is, are the keys just dead or is there something i need to do to make them all work? like some settings on the synth itself?

any help would be much appreciated

Thank you

Kodo

welcome Kodo!

I just checked the Manual and there is NO Keyboard Split (with one Slot not producing sound) on the NordLead(1), so I think there something wrong inside...

To check the cables inside the NL1, just unscrew all screws of the size as those at the side of the synth, but just leave those two with the washers, which are used as an 'articulation' to open the hood and keep it in place. There are also screws at the bottom, but only remove those with the same size as described, otherwise the complete synth will be disintegrated Wink

Now check all the flat cable connections by pressing the contacts.
If it doesn't work out, you can check the individual keys, but that won't be the trouble, I think, because it's a whole part of the keyboard which is not functional.

In the worst case you have to replace the whole keyboard...
(To keep you hopeful)

BTW I see I answered your question about seven hours earlier then you posted it???

Hi Wout thanks for the reply, i think i understand what you mean, but your reply confused me slightly, sorry Sad which screws should i unscrew exactly? there are four on the back and two on either side, should i unscrew the back four and only one set on the side's so it flips up like a hood? is that what you meant?

Exactly! And don't forget the one or two at the bottom.

There are those flat, more lines, computer (component) connecting cables inside. There are using a kind of large and 'clicking' plugs. Check these.

i just got it open, and looked inside apart from some dust the cables seem connected ok Confused except there is one connector with no cable coming from it Confused its just connected to the board, but there is not a cable connecting it to something else, should that be like that?

Thanks again!

To the NL1 I just own a rack version, so I checked the NL2. In my synth there are two cables from the keyboard module to the mother board in connector P1 and P2. Then there is a cable between the power supply and the mother board and also one to the panel board. If there is another connector it certainly is for the 4-to-12 Voice Expansion board, or is yours expanded?
Furthermore, checking is best done by clicking the connector open and then push it in again until the 'click'.

BTW still dead keys?

Wout
