Nord Lead 3 "Receive Error" Message Subject description: "Receive Error" message when sending System Exclusive Data from Cubase |
 |
|
Hi!
At this moment I have a Clavia Nord Lead 3 connected to my pc. I use Cubase as a sequence program.
Currently I have the following problem:
When programmed System Exclusive data in Cubase and sending it to my Clavia Nord Lead 3 the Clavia Nord Lead 3 displays a "Receive Error" message and does not receive the System Exclusive data although its set to receive System Exclusive data.
Is anyone known with this problem? How should I solve this?
Any information is welcome.

Does the Clavia Sound manager functions or not?

Yes, it's working correctly. Then the performance is loaded into the Nord Lead 3 the right way.
In the past, with versions like Cubase SX 2, System Exclusive parts for the Nord Lead 3 seem to be position sensitive also. I had to record those System Exclusive parts at a certain location and leave it there. Then the System Exclusive data would be send to the Nord Lead 3 correctly. When I moved that particular System Exclusive part, and played the song, then the "Receive Error" showed up again!
When using Cubase SX 3 and further, the "Receive Error" message showed up always when sending System Exclusive data is send to the Nord Lead 3.
Is it a matter of how the newer versions of Cubase have been programmed and deal with System Exclusive Data? Should I program all SysEx data again?
Also my Roland XP-80 gives a "Check sum Error" message when SysEx data is send to my Roland XP-80.
Thanks for your comments.[/img] |

If the Sound Manager is working well, the problem is in the sequencer program. Maybe there will be a dedicated forum to sequencing in the near future.
Perhaps it´s better to load the sounds in the NL3 and save them there and use Program Change?

Hi Wout,
thanks again for your reply.
I do not prefer to store the sounds in the Nord Lead 3 itself. The drawback of that is that there is a number of sound banks in the Nord Lead 3 for a large amound of songs. If you would do it like that at a certain time the memory of the Nord Lead 3 is full and you'll have to initialize the banks and start over again. This is certainly not preferred when using the Nord Lead 3 live or just for playing songs at home. When you just need to play a song that uses "another" group of sound banks, then you'll have to do a lot of loading work prior to be able to play a song.
The Nord Lead 3 is actually excellend in this case compared to my other synthesizers, Roland XP-80 and a Yamaha Motif Rack Es. With a Nord Lead 3 you can send all the necessary performance and sound settings in one time without even saving the sound settings to the internal memory of the Nord Lead 3. But there is the "Receive Error" message now.
The Roland XP-80 is somewhat less user friendly. There you have to send the sound settings to the XP-80 prior to sending the performance settings.
The Yamaha Motif Rack Es is even less user friendly. With this synth it's not possible to dump user sound banks to the internal memory (for this synth your proposal should be OK). You can only send Multi (read: Performance) settings using SysEx data.
If anyone knows something about this "Receive Error" message it would be very helpful. The user manual mentions the specific error, but replaying the song is NOT the solution!
Thanks,

I always work with the computer hard disk, so I can use a certain sound again in another song. Just leave the first two memory banks unused, so they can filled with the sounds you'll need when recording a song. On stage, in which case I also use special banks uploaded by the sound Manager and there is only one Bank filled with my favorite patches.
And Program Change, of course...
I never upload my synths using CuBase or something. It has to do too much then...

I have the same problem with my Nord Wave together with Cubase SX3.
I record the Sysex data, and when I´m playing back to my Nord it shows this massage in its screen:
"Sysex Error:
incorrect CRC"
Did you find the solution?
Do somebody have the same problem?
Thanks for the help!

I had the same problem with my G2 and Nord Rack 3.
Turn off (temporally) MIDI Sync messages from Cubase to the Nords. That should fix the issue. _________________ Cheers,

Thank you for the tip Dorremifasol.
I didn´t try your method, because after more than a week trying some things, today all the stuff resolved to work... I don´t know what happened.
I didn´t do anything different than I used to do with my old Nord Lead 2x for years, (as I was trying to do with the N. Wave too), and today everything worked fine!
I hope this problem don´t appear again.
Thank you. |
