Manfred Mann`s Earth Band Mini-Moog "phatty" sounds |
 |
|
I play in a band tributing MMEB. However, I find it hard to produce the traditional Mini-Moog "phatty" sounds which Manfred Mann uses, with my NL2x. Is it possible to find such sounds as sysex-files at this forum, and where? |

I'm not aware of MM having been mentioned on this forum.
As an aside, are you sure you want your user name to be an email address? This will result in extra spam I'd think, that is, only if it's a valid email address of course _________________ Jan

I don't know who played the synth in MMEB, because Mike Vickers left Manfred in 1969. Besides playing in the forrunner of MMEB, Vickers was a very important programmer of the modular Moog in its early days. He patched all the Moog sounds on the album Abbey Road of the Beatles, one of the best recordings in these days (and still is, I think). He also conducted the orchestra in the famous Beatles song All you need is Love. (Whap-pa-dap-pah-dap...) A true interesting musician. But he left
For sounds, try http://nm-archives.electro-music.com/020_NordLead2/021_Patches/
and maybe there is something you can use.
The best way to make a Moog-ish sound is using both Oscillators with a little detuning, if you use Pulse wave forms set LFO1 to a little Puls Modulation, try the 12 dB Filter with 2/3 Tracking and play with the cut-off, no Resonance and a lot of Filter Envelope.

Are you thinking in particular about those synth parts on A Roaring Silence? Didn´t Manfred play those parts himself? _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

Don't remember on what albums exactly, but he did play some nice synth stuff himself. _________________ Jan

I used to play along to the Roaring LP on the Cat2. There are some brilliant moments in there. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"
