have a new triple power supply. need a way to distribute the power. do molex connectors work well?

whats a good source for generic moxlex and molex pcb headers?

and should you solder or crimp the pins for molex? (which is better?)
do i need a special crimping tool???

thanks

Thank you sir, saved me the trouble of asking the same question.

Perhaps I can help a little too, http://www.alliedelec.com/catalog/pf.asp?FN=249.pdf

These are the connectors used by MOTM(the ones pictured in the first two columns)so they must be good and they should fit on Ken Stone boards as well, but I don't know how to attatch the wires to them either, and whether you really need the expensive tools shown at the bottom. Does anyone else know?

I use those too for all my pcb's. I solder the wires directly to the pins. I don't use a crimping tool.

(Reference point: Molex ( http://www.molex.com/ ) are a huge / well known and respected connector company, for many a year.)

I've recently converted to using their type of connector, that Stone / MOTM / etc., are using. They're the larger pin spacing (0.156") - meant for being able to carry heavier amounts of current; as well as being a lot stronger / sturdier.

That's as long as the wire is properly crimped to the connector's pin and the pin properly inserted into the poly-something shell.

Myself also - having seen many improperly crimped ones pull apart, solder my wires to the pins, before inserting them into the connector.
I do also crimp the 4 leaves around the wire, with a pair of needle nose pliers.

For power distribution - I've made a small PCB for my own, with 20 x 4 pin male connectors mounted to it. I'll be gradually converting everyone of my modules, to 4 pin males as well - with 4 pin female to female cables built for powering all of them.
That makes for much easier connection disconnection when changing module placement or bug repair. Smile
