Sampling |

Hi there folks,
For awhile now I've been making some basic tracks on Propeller Heads Reason and trying to learn as much as I can about different synthesizers, drum machines and other studio equipment as possible.
I've learned a lot using Reason and although there are tons of things I can still experiment with and create using just Reason, I feel like its time to incorporate something new.
So I've been interested in perhaps getting into sampling drum breaks and other sounds and using the samples with Reason. I just don't know where to start!
For now I just want some basic software that will simply allow me to sample drum breaks and cut the snare, bass and hi-hat hits individually and save them as .wav files so I can load them with Reasons "ReDrum" to make my own drum beats with.
If anyone is aware of any software, methods/techniques or just has some information to share please do. I will greatly appreciated it!
Thanks. |

When I started, and didn't have a sampler ! I used my soundblaster's 'record what you hear' function to record all sorts of samples. Cut them up using a wave editor, et voila!
It's not very hard, try googling for some software, there's loads of free- and shareware tools out there:
http://www.kvraudio.com/ (if you can't find anything on this site, you're simply not ready to sample! )
Also, sampling is much much more then finding nice drumbreaks, there's a backcatalog in eightees hiphop to give an example of that. Why not sample, parts of movies, dialogue, youtube, the outside world!!! You won't need a lot of tools, just a recorder and an editor, you already have those!
..or get a nice hardware sampler, they rock. _________________ http://husc-sound.com |
