is there a midi controller (a keyboard or something) in your setup? _________________ homepage - blog - forum - youtube

No,im using the G2 as synth and MIDI controller at the same time with logic, but i cannot record the sound and the MIDI sequence at the same time, so i wanna record 1st just the sequence of MIDI and then send it back through logic to the synth, so i can record the synth sound that time and this way all in perfect syncro..
i dont know if all this make any sense.. |

the USB connection of the G2 is only used for the editor so in order to transfer midi data to the laptop you need a midi-usb interface and an audio interface to record audio from the G2 to the computer. is that clear? _________________ homepage - blog - forum - youtube

jeje...yeah, thats clear..
I use an M_AUDIO soundcard for both things:
through MIDI cable, the keyboard of the G2 acts as the controller
through audio cable (output G2-input soundcard), i take the sound of the G2 into the comp
...
but then, when i change the midi cable, from MIDI OUT in the soundcard to MIDI IN in the G2 is where i dont get any connection...

so notes are recorded in logic but you can't play back notes from within logic on the g2?
hm, did you setup the g2 via logic's environment? is midi sent to the appropiate midi port? disable the input from within logic (track parameters) or physically disconnect g2 -> pc midi when playing back midi data to prevent midi loops.
hope this helps

and how do i set up the G2 for logic environment??
im trying changing the channels and some oher things but nothing seems to work, neither in the MIDI settings of the LOGIC...it doesnt even appear the G2 itself recognized as a controller...it should?(i mean, the name of it...the keyboard for instance works when im using it to play the notes in the virtual KOMPAKT i use..)
thanks!! |

try this:
1) select a midi track in logic
2) in the track parameter window select the midi in port of your m-audio soundcard which is connected to the g2 midi out port.
3) again in the track paramter window set the midi out port to 'none'
you should be able to record midi data now.
best regards

sorry, i think i didnt explain myself clearly..
I can record the midi notes that im playing with the keyboard of the G2 in logic. BUt i cannot send later those same MIDI notes to the G2 back so they can "play" the patch of the G2 i select..
thx again! |

ok then:
1) set input to none
2) in the track parameter box select the appropiate midi out port (not the one meant for the editor)
3) you should see the midi notes being sent in the transport bar when you hit play
best regards
