MIDI guitar and Nord modular G2 |
 |

Jan, not sure if this should be here or the G2 FAQ - you decide.
I noticed last year, when scanning the forum after I received my G2 Engine, that there appears to be a misconception that the G2 can't process the 6 guitar strings on 6 different midi channels.
I created a simple solution, but never posted it here.
Some questions on the midiguitar forum just reminded me, so I post it now.
Example:
Strings 1 - 6 = chan 1 - 6.
1 - 4 to slot A - D.
Use NoteZone (put in FX section) to transmit 5 to slot A and 6 to slot B. Slot A now has string 1 and 5, slot B 2 and 6.
If you want to keep processing completely separate for each string in slots A and B, use note ranges.

I'll leave it to you or anyone having an opinion ...
This is a clever trick! Will remember it I hope when the issue comes up again, thanks Udo.
edit: I changed my mind, and moved this to the FAQ section, otherwise I'll never find it again I left a link at the original location. _________________ Jan

post your solution please (prf2).
if this is truly working (my 2 G2's are at a different location so I cannot test it out), and you do not get trigger interruptions, than this is golden.
Govn'r Silver (you must be a donkey and not an elephant, am I right), who is Bob? Do you mean Rob?

That is nice solution.
I am not a good guitar player so I have to ask, would it be a problem if bending string 1 or 2 also changed pitch of string 5 or 6? |

Yo Dasz... I mean the user "Bob The Dog" who asked way back whether the G2 was suitable for MIDI guitar, then said it can't take more than 4 MIDI channels, thus prompting Udo's response more than a year later . I think his name is Andy. _________________ Current and recent work on Soundcloud

Hi,
I'm back, been sunning myself in India again, only lost 1 stone in weight this time, must be getting used to it!
I will give this idea a go and see what happens.
Cheers

I just read this thread again, I am pretty sure this will not work as g2ian states the string bending is going to muck things up. |
